Veolia is part of an international company which engineers various sustainable solutions to recover valuable products and by-products, recycle/reuse water resources, and reduce effluent volume. During my unique summer experience I primarily worked on compiling vessel drawings from past projects to organize into a company wide database for engineers to reference. Through this experience I learned about the application and design of various vessels including shell and tube heat exchangers, condensers, crystallizers, and evaporators. Other time was spent performing pump calculations, learning about process design, and gaining wisdom from experienced engineers. Additionally, I spent a week in the research and development building performing sieve analysis and titrations during a pilot test.

The Astronomical Research Institute (ARI) is a non-profit organization that works with NASA to measure and track newly discovered near-Earth objects. Most of my time was spent performing observations on thousands of telescope exposures to make note of any moving objects. During my semester of tedious hunting and observing I managed to make a discovery of an unknown main belt asteroid.

Worked with my adviser and fellow researcher to design and fabricate a wind tunnel. It was to be built for future research endeavors including the testing of aerodynamic forces exerted on a Frisbee in flight. It spans roughly 16 feet and built from aluminum sheets. It contains five main parts; the settling box, contraction section, test chamber, and diffuser. Through this project I learned about fundamental fluid dynamics, metal shaping/cutting, design, and manufacturing.

Ruffalo Noel Levitz is a company that is contracted by non profit organizations to raise funds for their specific causes via telephone. I personally raised over $25,000 for non-profit organizations including UNICEF and various University Annual Fundraisers. This job taught me how to be persistent about reaching goals and to never fear denial. Even after getting turned down 20 calls in a row it was important to know that every call was a brand new opportunity. There was no time to dwell on the past, just had to shake it off and try again.
