• Schedule & support production of market leading communications equipment for the defence industry from PCB assembly to shipment.• Manage a mixed discipline team of people to support company requirements. • Provide DFM support to Design Teams.• Establish in-house electronic manufacturing from scratch, including justification, purchase and implementation of capital equipment within two months of joining the company.• Develop stock control/production tracking database resulting in more efficient build process & vastly improved on-time delivery performance.• Create new quality control/monitoring procedures resulting in improved product quality.

• Led investigation into feasibility of offshore and in-house PCB manufacturing and developed strategy to increase future capacity and reduce labour costs.• Presented a proposal to the board of directors along with a justification for purchase of capital equipment, totalling £600k, which was subsequently approved.• Investigated equipment from various suppliers and established the best choice using a methodical and traceable approach.• Responsible for successful implementation of new equipment in record time, meeting a very tight deadline. • Provided training to Engineers and Manufacturing Staff along with all support documentation.

• Managed production of components for assembly of unique spectroscopy instruments within clean room environment.• Performed final quality control testing and organised shipment of final product.• Redesigned layout of production cells to reduce time taken to manufacture and test components and final assemblies.• Improved quality of components by introducing new processes and methods.

• Developed a functional test package suitable for production use using National Instruments TestStand.• Designed associated PCBs & hardware using Zuken CR5000 CAD Suite.• Completed user guides for test package.

• Computer Aided Design of a number of PCBs, including High Speed Analysis using Zuken Hotstage.• Designed and manufactured complex PCB, saving £1000s compared with cost of subcontracting.• EMC Compliance testing of new product before launch.• Completed environmental and stress testing of a new product design and reported on findings.

• Completed transfer to production of new component defect analysis software.• Developed Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) algorithms. • Provided AOI training to Production Engineers.• Trained Electronic Technicians in the use of both the AOI process and the use of the newly implemented component defect analysis software.

• Responsible for on-time transfer of production cell between manufacturing sites.• Provided day-to-day support to the production cell, while also improving processes to increase cell efficiency. • Justified two high value maintenance contracts by analysing costs, impact on business of potential downtime and activity reports.• Implemented and ran PICA (Process Improvement Cause Analysis) meetings and acted upon PICAs suggested by the manufacturing staff.
