Responsible for safety, budgeting, quality, planning, process improvements, lean activities, 5S, and cost reductionsCalendering operations at US9 were the worst in Group Michelin worldwide for the number of quality leaks to downstream customers. I led the team in the use of mini Kaisen root cause analysis tools resulting in the enhancement of work methods, training, coaching, and where necessary, disciplinary actions, achieving zero leaks within two months of being in the role, on par with the best in the world. Simultaneously, scrap reductions of nearly 33% were achieved on the textile calender for an annualized savings of $2.5M.

Hubbell Power Systems

$60M manufacturer of utilities/electrical products) - 2007 to 2010. I led all manufacturing operations in 75,000 sq. ft. facility, including safety, process improvements, cost reduction, quality and elimination of waste through Lean techniques. Managed 187 employees and $20M budget. Excessive motion waste was prevalent in handling of work at Hubbell with parts handled up to seven times prior to shipment. I worked with production control department to identify orders that could be assembled right on line. Reduced product handling to three or fewer times. Saved$40k the first year, in addition to a 28% reduction in headcount, and on-time shipments increased to 95%.I introduced safety a improvement program to reduce injuries. OSHA TIR recordable injury rate at Hubbell was excessive in 2007. After the departure of the EHS manager, I established basis for new job hazard analysis program for the facility. Introduced Kaizen events targeting elimination of work place hazards. Developed scoring matrix to prioritize hazards and applied resources to reduce risk. Cut recordable injuries from 33 to 13 in 2008 and 5 in 2009.

I led all manufacturing operations including safety, process improvements, cost reduction, quality and elimination of waste through Lean techniques. Managed 79 employees and $9M budget. Trim tile operations of Florida Tile needed to be relocated from FL to GA and manufacturing process converted from a slow fire to fast fire technology. I coordinated and conducted all production start up activities including line trials and optimization of equipment operating parameters to maximize efficiency. I directed the hiring and training of the workforce. Production was improved 8% in first year while reducing scrap over 5%.

Managed all operations of facility with full P&L responsibility. Initiated flexible manufacturing and cross training to ensure ability to react quickly to customer requirements and reduce inventories to optimum levels. Led 300+ personnel, including managers and supervisors, and budget of $15M.
