General Manager

Fupay

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Sep 2021 - Sep 2022

Head Of Customer Experience

I ran the Lotteries & Keno Customer Experience team at Tabcorp, where we drove an unashamedly Customer-focused program of work that sought to drive positive outcomes and improved Customer experiences. The team comprised of Customer/User Experience & Design Tigers (yes, literal Tigers) who deployed design thinking at scale to help the Org put Customer at the heart of everything they were strategising, planning and doing.

Jul 2020 - Sep 2021

Senior Manager - Customer Experience (Lotteries & Keno)

Brisbane, Australia

As the Senior Manager of Customer Experience, my remit is to develop and drive the Customer Experience Vision & Strategy within the Lotteries & Keno business. I'm working with stakeholders at all levels on programs that enable a culture of Customer-centricity and unlock the Voice of our Customer - driving teams to take action and improve the experiences our customers are having, becoming truly customer-led along the way.By putting the customer at the centre of what we do we're ultimately positioning ourselves to deliver improved experiences across our products/channels, surprising and delighting our customers at every turn.

Jun 2018 - May 2021

Product Manager - Shared Strategic Technology

Albion, Qld

As Product Manager for Shared Strategic Technology I acted as the first point of contact for new Ideas and the primary interface between Group Marketing, Finance, Lotteries, Wagering and Shared Strategic Technology. I helped to distil high priority Strategies into deliverable initiatives and features which were funnelled through high performing Technology teams in an iterative manner, to constantly add value. In this role I was fortunate enough to work with all corners of the Organisation - there was never a dull or quiet day as we constantly strived to add value!

Jun 2017 - Jun 2018

Project Manager / Senior Business Analyst

Albion, Brisbane

In September of 2015 I was promoted to Senior Business Analyst in the Shared Services team, where we continued to hone our delivery of high value software in rocket-themed launches, multiple times per month. The role involved facilitating conceptual definition of ideas, determining the options to execute, then delivering iteratively in an intelligent manner to maximise the value-add, minimise the time spent waiting and learn valuable lessons based on data & customer feedback.Since late 2015, while working as a Business Analyst at Tatts Group I also acted as Project Manager across a number of key strategic initiatives for the Organisation up to and beyond my promotion to Product Manager.

Sep 2015 - Jul 2017

Business Analyst

Albion

In October of 2014 I made the transition from Technical Testing and QA into a Business Analyst position in the Shared Services team. This was a very exciting opportunity for me to engage with stakeholders at all levels across the business - and one which I thoroughly enjoyed.Being heavily involved in the specification of business requirements, working with stakeholders to clearly understand their needs, deliver fit for purpose solutions in-line with their ambitions, and refining our capabilities along the way - were among the many rewarding aspects of the position.I worked diligently with our team to define strategic markers in order to establish what was truly valuable to us and to the customer - creating a microcosm of what would soon become Tatts Groups approach to answering the age old question of "Are we working on the right things?".By using effective work-plan management we ensured that from large projects to tiny tasks - every piece of work we undertook tied to our clearly defined strategic markers and that we understood the true value-add at play.By bridging the gap between the business and cross-functional teams, using closely arranged feedback loops and shifting our focus towards incremental or continuous delivery - we gave ourselves more than a fighting chance at success.2015 was a challenging but ultimately rewarding period and an experience that marked a new age at Tatts Group for the Shared Services area - one that we are all proud of.

Oct 2014 - Sep 2015

Senior Test Engineer

Albion, Brisbane.

Employed as a Senior Test Engineer working in a technical capacity across various projects. My workload was comprised of technical Test Planning and Execution (both automated and manual) using various technologies and tools such as TFS, SQL Management Studio, Fiddler, Selenium, Firebug, Quality Center and JIRA.With a focus on delivery amid a shape-shifting technological landscape, solving problems and collaborating to succeed was the name of the game in my time testing at Tatts.I left this role to take up a new position with Tatts Group as a Business Analyst in 2014.

Nov 2013 - Oct 2014

Senior Test Consultant

Brisbane, Australia

Brought in as a gun for hire in 2013 to work with Revolution IT as a Senior Test Consultant for a period of eleven months. As a Senior Consultant I was placed in a position of Senior Engineer at Tatts Group, where I enjoyed the people and work so much that I decided to join them full time!At Tatts I was consistently given opportunities above and beyond my role which was one of the key factors in me joining permanently.

Jan 2013 - Oct 2013

Test Engineer

Brisbane, Australia

Test Engineer role, using Test Link and Redmine for Test Case and Defect management, working in Virtual environments on platforms such as Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu, Apache2, Windows Server 2003-2008 and both Windows and Linux workstations to test VASCO's data security and authentication software/hardware solutions.

Aug 2012 - Dec 2012

Senior Test Analyst

Brisbane, Australia

Working on large software projects in a Test planning, execution & reporting capacity. My political naiveté was somewhat exposed when I took a 6 month contract at Communities only 2 months before a state election was held – in which the change of state government led to all contractors at the Dept. being let go at the end of their contracts.

Mar 2012 - Aug 2012

Senior Test Analyst

Brisbane

Created Test Strategies, Test Plans and Test Reports for various projects in a Short term contract.Utilising an extremely well resourced technical test lab to effectively guarantee that Adobe flash updates wouldn't cripple the BCC SOE was a little dry and uninspiring, so I elected to turn down a contract renewal and seek larger, more technical fish to fry.

Dec 2011 - Mar 2012

Senior Test Engineer

Milton, Brisbane

UAT Test Coordinator & Wise-cracking miscreant.A 3 month contract assisting in the validation of an entirely new Windows domain network built to facilitate the APLNG joint venture between Origin (37.5%), ConocoPhillips (37.5%) and Sinopec (25%), combining my strong experience in Windows Network & Systems Administration with recently honed skills in technical testing & strategy. On one occasion when our team of 3 decided to bring in lunches from home to share, I got my then-girlfriend (now wife) from Taiwan to make up a large portion of spicy sichuan soup, which I placed into a plastic jug which apparently was not meant for holding hot liquids.Luckily when I got it out of my bag we noticed the receptacles severely deformed shape and did not consume the soup, narrowly avoiding likely plastic poisoning.

Oct 2011 - Dec 2011

Test Consultant

Sunsuper, Qld Treasury

Joined Revolution IT as a Test Consultant in October 2010, where I was placed into various organisations including SunSuper and QLD Treasury to offer technical guidance for large software projects.Acting as a sort of "Software Testing Shaman" - I brought a youthful if not confusingly disproportionate level of passion to what my friends would call "immensely boring work". Where my outdoor working friends saw only the tedium of sitting at a desk all day, I saw a chance to make a real difference to my bank account.

Oct 2010 - Oct 2011

Senior Technical Test Engineer

Canberra, Australia

Senior Test Engineer for Dept of Defence, Technical Infrastructure and Software testing.During 2009/2010 I was a wide-eyed 25 year old going out on his first real contracting gig, and with the Dept. of Defence, no less! Each day I would drive to what I termed the "concrete shrine of morbidity", a large Orwellian building with windows so thin you'd turn your head to a 90 degree angle in order to get a two-eyed vision of the outside world. If anything though, due to the outside world being a suburb in Canberra this made us focus more on what was happening inside this large nondescript concrete cube - where we would discretely scrutinise hardware and software with the utmost rigour in the most sterile of environments. After a week straight of 40'+ heat I decided that my time in Canberra had probably run its course and made the decision to move back home to Brisbane.

Jul 2009 - Feb 2010

Contracted Test Analyst

Test Analyst, Senior Test Analyst, Test Lead.Worked on an array of projects and learnt the art of software testing. The Border Security Portal project sought to strengthen border security procedures, processes and offer a shorter path to enhanced outcomes. My role was to lovingly craft broad-coverage test suites and confer with Business Analysts and Developers to refine requirements and triage defects. The Rule Engine project implemented a Business Rule Management System to assist in clear decision making and outcomes as a directive. My role was to critique RuleBurst and its ability to rapidly capture Immigration business rules from voluminous and complex information sources, proving that it could sufficiently derive business rules directly from legislative sources, including compliance with government policy and regulatory regimes; simplifying the provision of complex government information to citizens.I was awarded by the Department for my performance on the Rule Engine project. The RAPIDS Biometrics project sought to offer the Department enhanced biometric capabilities, utilising the RAPIDS BioDetection system. My role was to design comprehensive strategies for validating both camera & fingerprint biometrics technologies developed by off-shore third-parties based in India.I recall feeling proud the day we fooled an alpha version of the RAPIDS system by way of a fake moustache and some extreme squinting - and found out many years later that this technology was also adopted by State police for the purposes of licence-plate detection.I have since adorned my licence plate with a fake moustache for unrelated reasons.

Mar 2006 - Jun 2009

Network System Administrator

Canberra, Australia

My initial foray into the world of IT!The role involved me driving a sun-damaged Blue 1996 Ford Falcon Station wagon around the ACT and NSW, primarily to install, configure and maintain Windows Domain based computer networks shielded by Linux Smoothwall firewalls into Medical practices & facilities, but also to administer specific medical software packages such as MediLink, Pracsoft & Medical Director among others.Convincing doctors treating those with serious ailments that they needed to think about moving on from the fleet of Windows Millennium Edition powered grey boxes that their whole practice (including hypersensitive patient data) was dependent on - was a surprisingly difficult task.During these 2 years I learnt many skills, including:-> Windows Server Administration - inc. networking and advanced group policy configuration-> Smoothwall setup and configuration-> Tactical avoidance of angry doctors-> Push starting a Falcon wagon
