The StoneCycling concept initially started at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. During his graduation project, co-founder of the company Tom van Soest, focused on getting the full potential out of waste in order to create new building material. Starting only with raw waste material, Tom began grinding, blending and processing them in different ways. This led to surprising results as he uncovered the great potential and value of waste material. In 2013 he founded StoneCycling together with Ward Massa. Since then, StoneCycling has pioneered the way in the design, development, and production of building material from waste.StoneCycling has been featured in numerous publications around the world, such as the Guardian, Smithsonian Magazine, Co.Design and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Architects value the focus on sustainability without having to compromise on style/design. The very first house built with StoneCycling’s WasteBasedBricks was completed in 2016.We never do things alone. We work closely with leading architects, designers, construction companies and developers from around the world.
