I am the General Counsel for GovSmart, Inc., in Charlottesville, VA., a HUBZone Small Business value-added reseller of information technology to the Federal Government. Although I specialize in government contracts, I also write and review the company's external agreements, handle labor law compliance, advise on corporate governance issues, and do preliminary research into any other legal issues that arise. I supervise and monitor the work of any outside counsel when we need to dig deeper into specific issues.I also create and deliver training courses to employees and company leadership on topics involving government contracting, procurement fraud, and company policies, as well as any other topics of general legal interest. As a recently-retired Army officer, my military background also helps me contribute to any project or effort whether or not related to my legal duties.
