I led a worldwide team of ~2000 engineers, product managers, data scientists and industry experts responsible for Microsoft Azure’s Global Infrastructure (regions, availability zones, long range capacity, service rings), Geographic Expansion into new countries, Enterprise Trust capabilities (security, privacy, compliance, data residency, sovereignty), Space products (Ground Stations, Edge, Earth Observation, Geospatial Analysis), Government Clouds (sovereign and classified), Commercial Industry products (Financial Services, Energy, Power & Utilities) and dual use and government product capabilities (Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Secure 5G, Critical Infrastructure, Cyber, Emulation & Simulation, Landing Zones, Enclave Infrastructure). In this role I was also responsible for Microsoft’s “Vanguard” cross company customer, market and regulatory engineering initiatives, leading 500+ virtual teams / 15,000+ engineers. Key efforts include Microsoft’s response to GDPR, building Microsoft’s cloud computing infrastructure for China, Microsoft’s succesful technical response to the DoD JEDI procurement, addressing sovereignty in Europe through data residency and sovereignty, driving the global expansion of Microsoft’s cloud computing platform into 35 countries, new form factor creation and delivery, enterprise feature delivery.
