Act as the key interface and expert with the customer for all contractual issues. Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with the customer to meet Network Rail’s business objectives and maximise income earned from customers through performance regimes, from opportunities for business expansion and by minimising contractual payments. Act as arbitrator to resolve commercial and other disputes in a way that maintains customer relationships. Lead all negotiations on changes to the customer’s Track Access Contract. Manage the contractual elements of the customer’s Track Access Contract performance regimes to minimise payments and identify opportunities for improving processes. Hold responsibility for both Network Rail’s compliance and the customer’s compliance with the terms of the contractual agreements. Develop and deliver all income streams relating to the customer. Identify, manage and deliver improvement projects for both the customer and Network Rail.

As a part of the Regulated team of Procurement I am responsible for validating Track Access charges from Network Rail to minimize financial exposure to the South Western Railway, compliant with current audit requirements at the same time ensuring that we have been correctly compensated for revenue, train mileage and buses under the Scdedule 4 compensation scheme. I maintain a database of possessions that have taken place each period and check the list rigorously to ensure that all possessions have been reflected in the Day 42 statement. Support the Track Access Manager in ensuring Schedule 5 rights tables reflect SWT’s SLC and protect SWT’s position in the development of the timetable. I am responsible for validating TAC invoices and ensuring the relevant charges and discounts ie EC4T, Regen Braking and Capacity Charges are correctly levied. Raising queries with NR whenever required. I produce reports based on these. I also create station change and depot change documents for EMT and manage the process through to approval by the Regulator. I am responsible for producing 80-20 depot maintenance claims to NR. I manage utility billing for both EMT and SWT of station tenants for their use of our supplies - water, gas and electricity. I also deal with Station Access for SWT & EMT, I charge other TOCs and FOCs for any access they request. Set up contracts with other companies where they use our station facilities and ensure that we charge correctly for the services offered. I also assist in maximizing non-passenger revenue income from non-regulated third party industry contracts, where EMT/SSWT are selling/buying goods.

As an integral member of the depot management team I was responsible for ensuring the right crew with the right competencies is on the right train at the right time. I was responsible for managing and motivating Drivers and Guards within the depot and I was the first point of contact for traincrew from other depots as well. My job involves covering jobs at short notice and ensuring a smooth running of trains to minimize delays thus affecting train performance. As an ORM I was adept at balancing the pressures of running a punctual train service whilst developing excellent interpersonal relationships with the staff. An integral part of my role was to be a persuasive negotiator and being able to plan and analyze under pressure. Keeping an eye on the budget and ensuring that we do not exceed depot quota by spending excessively on overtime pay.
