This enables that I am quickly able to identify faults, or potential faults, on customers equipment, and endeavour to find solutions as quickly and safely as possible to avoid disruption to customers supply. My main roles were to carry out maintenance and repairs on any plant or apparatus on the electricity distribution network, including 33kv/11kv transformers and associated switchgear as well as distribution transformers and switchgear and also LV Plant.I have been extensively involved in the secondary maintenance programme, working on a variety of switchgear, Oil, Vacuum and SF6 alike, following company Codes of Practice and standard techniques which are based on national model standards.I can accept Permits to Work and Limitation of Access up to and including 33kV, and as document holder I am responsible for the safety of my team and full completion of jobs. I am also authorised to carry out switching operations on low voltage systems up to 1000v on planned works and am in the process of gaining experience of switching on 11kv systems with an aspiration to become a full 11kV switching operative.I have been involved in numerous 11kV substation changes over the years working well as part of a larger multi skilled team and enjoyed learning about all the different aspects of the final goal.Another responsibility I held was the completion of any primary substation inspections and oil sampling in my area. After I left school I gained employment as a Track Marshall at Ancaster Karting Track, which is open to members of the Public. I was involved in safety and people's welfare whilst they were using the facilities and go Karts on the Track. I was involved in working on the Go Karts and enjoyed this. I then left this position to pursue a career in Electrical Fitting.
