After a multi-faceted marketing career in industries including print, financial services, wireless telecommunications, and big box retail, I was recruited into healthcare beginning with McKesson where I was director of marketing communications for McKesson Specialty. Shortly thereafter, I moved into the health system side of healthcare, where consumerism was just becoming a "phenomenon" and hospitals and medical groups, who had previously relied on health plans to send them patients were suddenly thrust into understanding and executing marketing strategies as well as understanding the consumer mindset. All my previous experience in competitive consumer-facing industries had prepared me for this challenge, at a time in life where I was beginning to appreciate the importance of healthcare and educating oneself before choosing a physician and/or committing to a treatment plan. After successful marketing and public relations leadership roles with Arizona's largest health system and the nation's fastest growing urgent care organization, I decided to retire....very early...to focus on myself, my family and, most importantly, care for my elderly parent. Retirement did not last long as former healthcare employers and colleagues began to call me to do marketing consulting and contract work. That has blossomed into my own company, Prescriptive Communications, which specializes in healthcare marketing, with a focus on marketing communications across all vehicles, brand development, and reputation management. Current clients include health systems, medium-large independent medical groups, and health plans.
