I ran a start-up in the 90s in the music industry and then moved to large corporate, learning how to grow businesses from P&G as a General Manager path marketer. I have a diverse experience which enables me to flow to any context, learn quickly and and find solutions re-applying or seeking out new ways to grow as needed. Having led in digital in the 90s, I am still tech friendly, leaning into AI applications to support efficiency. My broad industry & sector experience spans Software, Telecoms, FMCG, Durables, Animal Healthcare, Entertainment, Insurance. Within these I have split my experience across B2B and B2C. I identify opportunities for growth by finding insights both from within the company and from consumers/customers, sculpting commercial and operational models, developing innovation & propositions and company culture. I work best in environments with challenge and change - I'm the strange beast that actually enjoys ambiguity and the opportunity to solve problems and create transformation.I have worked in small companies of 10-20 people (including my own start-up) and large corporates. As a result, I am unusually agile, enabling teams to develop resilient, entrepreneurial behaviours. Leading direct teams of up to 16 and led multi-year project teams of 300+, I have experience spanning local market of UK & Ireland as well as regional ownership of EMEA and North America. In style, I am direct, focused on the problem and solutions, encapsulating & communicating vision & energy to team. My leadership style with my direct reports is best described as 'coaching', but I tend to learn as much, if not more from my teams as any knowledge or advice that I impart. I love seeing people and teams grow and succeed.

Emea Brand And Commercial Director - P&G ProfessionalProcter & Gamble Jan 2012 - Sep 2015Cincinnati, Ohio, UsI set up and ran our first successful direct delivery professional cleaning business. P&G Professional had previously failed twice to succeed in the direct delivered market. P&G's traditional expertise is in 'shelf-based' products to large retail customers, so we had to completely deconstruct and reconstruct the business, operational and service model. We became internal entrepreneurs with a more 'agile' methodology of initiative development adopting a 'do, learn, do' approach.I led a cross-functional team consisting of sales & marketing, finance, insights and R&D to successfully launch the direct distribution business in the UK, Ireland, continental Europe and Turkey. This involved designing brand architecture, strategy and identity, creating a complete surface and dish care product line-up with engineering, training and service capabilities. We also had to develop a distributor marketing structure with toolkits and self-service digital asset distribution platform.P&G Professional direct delivered became a viable business with +€100m revenue within 3 years post start-up. -
Brand Director DuracellProcter & Gamble Nov 2009 - Jan 2012Cincinnati, Ohio, UsDuracell was acquired as part of the Gillette deal, but was very much the last priority for the business. The Duracell culture was troubled having gone through 3 acquisitions in 10 years. The market was defined by a single product 'alkaline batteries' and they mainly communicated with already loyal customers. I was asked to lead a team responsible for stepping outside of the traditional model to address a new market for rechargeable power users. • Developed and delivered rechargeable personal power strategy and plans, delivering best performing creative / communication.• Reinvigorated strong claims on base • Launched white space wireless charging category.• First P&G Social Media presence >1M customers• Leveraged direct-to-consumer business duracelldirect.com through external team -
Brand Director Lenor And FairyProcter & Gamble Sep 2005 - Nov 2009Cincinnati, Ohio, UsP&G had struggled to take market leadership in a category where Unilever's brand name 'defined' the category (Comfort) and they had market leadership of the primary segment (Dilute). I was asked to lead a team where one of the key strategies (defined by management) was to 'win in dilute'. Within my first 90 days, I realised that this would be an uphill struggle given our right-to-win in dilute vs concentrate and the underlying economics of the business. I worked across local and regional teams to develop an alternative strategy - to convert the category to concentrate in which we had a stronger advantage.• Created strategy and plans (initiative, communication, go-to-market) to convert category to concentrate (shifting from 50% to 100% in 3 years)• Introduced tiering with premium and super-premium line-ups.• Updated outmoded brand equity, strategy and identity for Lenor, created brand strategy, identity and creative for the launch of Fairy FE.• Delivered 4 years of double-digit growth.• Led branding, identity & advertising, ultimately winning Silver and Gold Effies in subsequent years. -

Assistant Treaty UnderwriterBeazley 1995 - 1998London, GbAs an assistant treaty underwriter, responsible for re-insurance of some of the world's largest property portfolios, I was responsible for analysing, making recommendations and underwriting complex risk within the company's risk strategy and profile.Whilst there, I identified the opportunity to improve how we assessed, analysed and tracked risk. Working with a data analyst SQL expert, I created & managed the development of the market’s first risk aggregation assessment software tool, resulting in our faster risk assessment & so quicker offer turnaround, enabling the syndicate to lead more contracts & grow our market share. This tool is still being used today as a key competitive advantage in Beazley, now one of the biggest Lloyds syndicates. -
