The center housed other non-profit heath care services to provide a “one stop shop” healthcare facility for the East Chicago and surrounding communities.• Worked with other Executive Team members on an 18 month organization turn-around plan with specific responsibility for market share improvement. Results: St. Catherine Hospital had successfully gained 1.2% in market share, decreased acute care length of stay by 8.1%, increased income from core operations by 173%, increased discharges by 15.3%, introduced four new product lines, enhanced five existing product lines, recruited nine new physicians.• Developed and implemented an Image Campaign and comprehensive strategic marketing plan. St. Catherine Hospital is an acute care hospital, with 1100 employees and dual hospital physicians, serving seven diverse communities. Responsibilities included providing administrative, strategic planning and development for staff of the Auxiliary and Gift Shop; Community Outreach and Education; St. Catherine Hospital Foundation; Pastoral Care departments and all related administrative, marketing, planning, and financial management as well as administrative management of Nazareth Home.

A mini-system comprised of St. Catherine Hospital, St Mary Medical Center Gary and St. Mary Medical Center Hobart formed strategically to position the hospitals to maintain marketshare, provide for service growth, eliminate duplication of services, share human resources and ensure fiscal stability in a competitive environment. Responsibilities included providing leadership and guidance to each hospital based on its internal and external strategic plan.
