Aluminum | GSPM (Gravity Die casting and Rotacast)Big-serial production of cylinder heads and engine blocks in GSPM provided an eye-opening view on how production can be automated and how the currently available production process data can be used to systematically find root-causes for challenges and to optimize the production processes. I was involved in numerous projects over the manufacturing site boundaries as an expert to stabilize processes and to get the ramp-ups for products on track.Accomplishments:• Developer of cylinder block concepts and processes for GSPM for several premium OEMs• Lead process data analyst supporting across manufacturing plants

Iron Castings | Sand-Casting (from small Disamatic to large hand molded castings)The division wide implementation and calibration of MAGMAsoft was among the first projects that I had the chance to take up at Componenta. During the following years I became the lead development engineer in Finland responsible for the design of the most challenging projects. Additionally, a large amount of time was spent working directly with the customers to ensure that the highest potential possible was achieved in their components while optimizing the designs for manufacturability. The customers ranged from ship-engine builders to wind turbine manufacturers.Accomplishments:• Implementation of MAGMAsoft in Componenta Finland as the main user• Lead designer for complex components for Componenta Finland• Corporation wide support on issues and product development• Introduction and development of rapid prototyping concepts company wide

The first year at Componenta as a Process engineer was spent getting to know the production units in order to get a better overview of the company. • Responsible for managing the prototype production • Mercedes Benz, Ponsse, Valtra, Grundfos were among our customers • Manufacturing foundry tooling for the needs of the Foundry Institute, including design and CNC work• Part- and casting-design for the Foundry Institute and other clients• 3D-CAD design and casting simulations were mainly done using Solidworks and MAGMAsoftThe job involved everything from the design to working on the shop floor. Due to the nature of many of our projects at the Foundry Institute, making molds ourselves for our prototypes and tests was common place. My responsibilities for the casting-events themselves included calculating the charges in order to get the desired composition and the actual pouring of the molds. Our prototype castings were mainly been grey- and ductile-irons, but other ferrous materials such as SiMo and ADI irons were also produced.
