What do I do:Working for RARUK Automation - the UK’s biggest distributor of Universal Robots, I help companies by providing simple, cost-effective automation solutions for existing and prospective applications. Universal Robots’ collaborative robots are the number one choice worldwide, with over a 50% global market share. I use the UR product to implement easy to set-up solutions, helping companies overcome skills shortages, increase productivity and efficiencies whilst remaining a safe (collaborative) choice versus traditional industrial robots.I help with R.O.I. and payback forecasting – a key requirement before a project sign-off. There’s often an incredibly fast payback when a Cobot is used – at times even less than three months!Who and which industries do I help:I work with companies that are new to automation, requiring guidance with their first steps as well as those that already have existing automated processes.They can be organisations of all sizes and across a multitude of different applications; machine tending, welding, packaging, sanding, assembly, manufacturing and many more. The boundaries of collaborative automation are extensive and there’s more UK based companies turning towards it, complementing their existing workforce – especially those finding it difficult to fill roles.Some recent projects where an existing manual process was automated:A metals company uses a UR e-Series robot to weld repetitive framework (this project was installed alongside one of our trusted welding integration partners). The company couldn’t fill its welding vacancies and was facing a productivity shortfall.A bakery which uses an e-Series to chop cookie dough coming out of an existing machine.A fabrication company that needed to tend a CNC machine. The e-Series has allowed then to change shift pattern and because of its repeatability, brought a dramatic reduction in waste.
