My name is Tony and I was a technician in the motor industry for over 20 years. Over those years I gained a lot of experience in doing various jobs, Engine and gearbox rebuilds. Electrical diagnostics, a/c servicing and repairs, also working on electric vehicles. I gained many qualifications in this industry. Some of the important ones were for me to work on electric vehicles and working on air conditioning systems. I left the motor industry in November 2021 and joined national grid (gas) as an operative. I have done many courses to allow myself to be authorised to carry out the work I do. Some of the jobs are, dealing with aerial sightings, lsbud enquiries and over seeing works in the vicinity of the pipeline. I completed my icorr training. This giving me a basic and good understanding on how cathodic protection works. I carry out cp readings in various locations and upload them to our logger. Part of my role is to assist the Mechanical technicians and help out some of the projects that may happen. I also have helped out on valve maintenance, nitrogen sleeves and any non routine operations. I have now started a new role within national gas as a mechanical operations technician!
