Before starting, the business had recently started to use overseas outsourcers. I was asked to come in and get the accounts produced for the past 2 years. This was to get them ready for their first audit in 30 years. The company owner was looking into floating the business within a 12 month time frame. In this role, I also produced the working capital report, Accounting system and the control manual for the potential flotation. This involved co-ordinating with the Manchester and London based professionals involved in the potential flotation online and in person. If the flotation had taken placed, I would have risen into a directors role for the company. Due to the requirement of having a qualified accountant involved to produce the accounts and act as Finance Director. In my tenure, I have cleaned up the chart of accounts, introduced cost centres and controlled the forecasting of the cashflow for the next 5 years. It also involved reconciling the balances and correcting the actuals where necessary. As a result of this process the owner decided not to float the business.
