Primarily, my career was in operations mainly at the inner city Manchester fire stations. As a Station Commander and supervisory officer at Manchester Borough HQ, I held the following references for the seven fire stations:- Operations, Performance Management & Audit, Training, H&S/Accident Investigation.Additionally, the FRS representative at the city council’s: Manchester Resilience Forum; Homelessness Forum; Water Safety Group.Promoted to Group Manager, I was the Service Delivery Manager for both Prevention and Protection; and more recently operational training and recruits. My final posting was as the Resilience Manager at GMFRS overseeing the Technical Rescue Units and Hazardous Materials reference. I am immensely proud of the Fire and Rescue Service, but particularly our staff they do an amazing job! Notably, moving from the fire engines to middle management as a Station Commander at Blackley was personally my most rewarding role I.e. especially serving the community that I had grown up in.I’m also very proud of my involvement as part of the Central Service Delivery/Performance Review -as part of a team we created our first internal audit and performance management frameworks. This new department significantly transformed the performance of GMFRS. The FRS has been an incredible career - giving me a second crack at education - and a breadth of professional qualifications. Therefore I am really enthusiastic about personal development and training. I graduated in 2006 from the University of Central Lancashire UCLAN with a (first class honours degree) in Fire Engineering Management. Previously, I was also an involved with the invigilation,writing and marking of the (Leadership and Management) examinations for the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). I was also the Branch Secretary for GMFRS. Assisted the FBU Research document into Attacks on Firefighters 2005.From my dissertation, wrote and developed the first ever Attacks on Firefighters conflict training with the Greater Manchester Police Public Order Unit.Most recently, I successfully completed a (Level 7) qualification in Strategic Leadership. I was also a member of the Chartered Management Institute.My professional interests are: inspirational leaders; management and leadership. I have a real passion for training and education especially working with young people from deprived backgrounds RECLAIM charity.As a qualified Workplace Coach/Mentor it was my great honour to support numerous officers to both middle and senior management positions.
