I have always been curious about how mechanical and electronic devices work. I would take them apart (including my Atari) to try to understand their magic. Then I would put them back together (not always successfully) with even more questions than before. I applied this same curiosity when working on cars with my auto mechanic father. I always wanted to know how each part of the puzzle did its job. When my family purchased their first personal computer my interest in computers and how they work was born. I explored the hidden world of keystrokes and commands and always asked myself how it could be done better. I even created a full Windows domain in my house with VPN access and a shared broadband connection in the early days of connectivity. As I started my career in IT, it continued to spark my curiosity on how I could interact with computers and systems. Computer systems have brought me to many places I have troubleshooted and deployed computers in Taxi cabs around the country . I eventually landed in San Francisco where I was head of IT for several offices in the insurance industry. We then were purchased by Wells Fargo. My talents were recognized for converting our systems and then I began going to more places. I proceeded to travel to just about every state in the country as a project lead converting systems to our standards and deploying software. In recognition of my knowledge and abilities I moved into a more enterprise role first as part of a team that was the last line of all technology . The team eventually restructured, and a small crew from that same team were placed in charge of one of the most if not the most important role IT can have in an organization, Security. As a team we found there were many existing tools for reporting on events but nothing that exactly suited our needs so we proceeded to build our own tools and created a module and functions that could achieve our goals. This same curiosity drives me till this day and at times I draw on those very commands I learned as a child. Where I shine is continuous learning and figuring out problems with computers and electronics . If only the younger me could see what the computer world has become.
