35 years as a coin and medallion designer, engraver and sculptor in the mint industry. Beginning a trade apprenticeship serving under Czech master Emil Hafner in Melbourne, Australia in 1980. Seven years under Emil provided a solid skill and experience base that was not realised until securing a position 10 years later at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra in 1990. The resource and equipment rich Royal Australian Mint introduced me legal tender using new and modern equipment and methods setting a greater level for the need in quality.A move to the Perth Mint as the Manager for Design, Engraving and Die Manufacturer was a great challenge in setting up a new department recruiting staff and the purchasing of equipment. After 5 years at the Perth Mint a move back to the east coast to take some time away from the mint industry to build a house on a forested property for a few years whilst working firstly as a volunteer and then some remunerated work with local Youth Services.I started Medal Art Mint in 2005 seeking commissions for medal supply and freelance design and sculpting services to the mint industry. Each year Medal Art Mint has been growing with more clients and state of the art equipment being introduced to our workshop. I really enjoy my work which leads to quality of product and service being paramount to my own satisfaction.
