Accredited Crisis Supporter Tony is passionate about developing and implementing programs that have a positive impact and that prevent and alleviate financial hardship and build capability and resilience, focused on people who are marginalised and in vulnerable circumstances.Tony first commenced in financial counselling in 1986 as a volunteer. For over twenty five years he worked at a senior level in the sector. He is a past president of the Financial Counsellors Association of NSW and past Deputy Chair of the financial counselling national peak body. From 1994 to 2002 Tony was a volunteer Lifeline telephone counsellor. More recently Tony has been accredited as a Lifeline crisis supporter. Tony led the Salvation Army’s Moneycare program, including financial counselling, financial capability, financial literacy and microfinance. Moneycare is one of the largest services of its kind in Australia. Tony has also acted as a consumer representative over a number of years including positions on the board of the Financial Industry Complaints Service and the Credit Union Dispute Resolution Service. He has also acted as a consumer representative on a telco working group, banking forum, insurance group and for a utility company. He was also a member of the Consumer Advisory Panel for the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.He has been quoted in and interviewed on various media outlets over the years.Tony has degree in business studies, a diploma in criminology, graduate diploma in counselling and a diploma in community services. He also attended a short course at Harvard University where he obtained a certification in financial inclusion. He is an accredited financial counsellor and an accredited crisis supporter (Lifeline)
