"Never pull the reigns in a horserace." That's a small piece of life advice from my father he would tell me in good times or bad; drilling it in me to 'accomplish your goals' & 'never give up.'I got an education in history, learning firsthand what works and what doesn't because, after all, that's what you're supposed to do with history, aren't you? ----Learn from it.-Life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you, show it persistent patience.At my core, like most people in my circle, it's faith, family, and friends in that exact order. Still, I've often asked myself, where is the intersection between who you're striving to be, meeting up with who you are, and, more importantly, how do you finally arrive at the destination of living out your true authentic self through the lens you want to see yourself through? I'm a work in progress, keeping a loose grip on the reigns with my head down, making sure never to pull back on them. In the meantime, I'm focused on being a good father to my four boys and a good husband to my wife Beth of twenty years because, in the end, that's what I will reflect on as what really mattered in my life. As I take on the day during this "leg" of the journey, I'm focused on the solution, not naively discounting the problem, but living my life as if the glass is half full, remembering that through all of my ventures, whether it's Really Matters, Story Ranch, Davis MFG, RM Soap Market, that hard work is not for everyone and that tired people build things. With four boys keeping me busy enough as it is, I'm exhausted, but that has never prevented me from living a life full of significance, forgoing anyone's preconceived notion of success. I'm a very motivated person, or in other words, "Pull it off the PowerPoint and go do it!" I'm over a year into my tenure as the CEO of RM Soap Market and a lifetime into what my vision is for the company. My entire life, believing in having an impact for good, conjuring up ideas on what I can do to improve the lives of others with the gifts I've been given. That's why RM was created and exactly why Story Ranch was conceived. It gives me another purpose; it ties back to everything I've learned over the years just living life, and it honors God, which, when we finish the race someday, we hear what we all want, and that's "well done, good and faithful servant."
