Profile Editor• Architected and implemented the Profile Editor application. The application is a fully extendable, DnD graphical user interface used for defining and managing simulation sessions. (Python, wxWidgets, XML, Linux).

Broadbus Element Management System• Architected and implemented a multi-protocol and multi-lingual SNMP agent. Duties included designing and implementing the Broadbus Enterprise MIBs, support for applicable standard MIBs, and delivering detailed project plan, functional spec, and design spec. (Java, SNMP, Adventnet APIs)

Navis LightShip Development Kit• Developed and led a team of six engineers and was responsible for the definition, implementation, scheduling, resource allocation, documentation, mentoring, and transformation of the Navis LightShip API into a commercial, development kit. The kit included an entirely new client application, complete with full source code and binaries, IDLs, documentation, and a turnkey build environment for the Windows and Solaris platforms. The client application, named CATT, could operate via RMI or RMI-IIOP with the Configuration Server.• The CATT client was extremely successful and was used by both the embedded and application QA teams to qualify software releases, perform regression tests, and served as an important tool to find implementation problems and performance issues within the client and server. The articles developed for the kit directly resulted in higher quality, availability, and improved performance across the IPSS device and LightShip management software suite.• Integrated Visibroker for Java ORB and Sun IDL ORB into the Navis LightShip API. This enabled the configuration server to operate with the IIOP used by CORBA in addition to the JRMP used by Java RMI. Navis LightShip Configuration Application• Developed and co-led the definition, design, and a team of nine engineers to implement the LightShip Configuration application. Additional responsibilities included monitoring all development that was part of or impacted the API.Navis LightShip API• Developer and leader in the definition, design, and implementation of a common client-server API that would operate via RMI (Java) and RMII-IIOP (CORBA). Navis LightShip Installer• Defined, designed, and created a multi-platform, Java-based installer. The installer uses an Install Anywhere engine and is capable of installing a fully customized Oracle DB, an Apache Web Server, a JVM, the LightShip software suite and documentation.

• Led the definition, architectural design, and implementation of the embedded SNMP subsystem.• The subsystem included a trilingual master agent and multiple proxy agents using AgentX across multiple system boards and processors. The SNMP subsystem could handle 125+ simultaneous requests without any system degradation.• Responsible for defining, writing, implementing, and maintaining all of the initial STN Enterprise MIBs.• Designed and implemented a subagent library that provided full SNMP support for all proprietary tasks.• Designed and implemented a trap/notification API that provided full support used by all SNMP capable tasks.• Trained embedded engineers that did not have any prior SNMP knowledge.• Led technical evaluation of embedded SNMP APIs and remote test applications.• Assisted QA in the development of integration and system test plans.• Assisted and supported the CLI which was exclusively SNMP-based.

Worked on Navis Core NMS (C++) fixing bugs and adding incremental features.

• Project leader, designer and developer of the D56 Configuration Wizard. The wizard is intended to provide experienced users with a quick and easy alternative tool to configure Shiva devices. It also serves as a training assistant for new Shiva customers. All coding was done in Java. Extensive usability tests were performed on this product and the wizard met or exceeded customer and company-wide expectations.• Sole designer and developer for a Windows-based network management application that involved adding configuration and monitoring features for the LanRover D56 device.• Trained new employees on network management products, software architecture, development tools, and source control.• Responsibilities included interviewing and recommending job applicants.

• Designed and implemented a method using BOOTP to discover uninitialized Shiva devices.• Led a team, designed and developed new ISDN configuration and monitoring features for a LanRover AccessSwitch device for Shiva Network Manager (SNM).• Responsible for adding all configuration and monitor support for new ISDN WAN cards in SNM.• Designed and developed application code for SNM to easily upgrade system board firmware. The process was completely automated. Protocols involved were IP, IPX, SNMP, and TFTP.• Created OEM versions of SNM for various third parties such as Northern Telecom, IBM, HP, and Motorola.• As project leader, responsibilities included interfacing with Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Information Engineering, and Education Services.

• Ported MSVC++ based NMS from Windows to Solaris.• Designed and developed a NM application to collect Token Ring and Ethernet statistics in conjunction with HP Openview.• Designed and developed MIB and subagent for AT&T Quad Ethernet Port Repeater.• Responsible for training engineers on the architecture and critical functionality of the NMS and hub.• Designed and developed a multi-repeater/MAU SNMP sub-agent and suite of MIBs to manage Ethernet networks.• Designed and developed an embedded real-time hub application that automatically converted critical databases to the most recent release schema.• Designed and developed an embedded hub application enabling users to initialize and configure hubs for use on an IP network.
