I established Surf Fit in Newquay in 2021, teaching mat and Reformer Pilates, along with surf mobility to keep people moving and doing the activities that they love into old age. I’ve recently left the Military after serving 22 years as a photographer. I’ve been practicing Pilates since 2008 after discovering the discipline whilst serving at RAF Brize Norton. I fell in love with Pilates finding it a perfect fit with my other passion, surfing. I found that regular practice kept me fit and injury free. In 2017 I began to train as a Pilates instructor, teaching military personnel to practice and consolidate my teacher training. I certified as a STOTT Pilates certified Instructor in 2018. I’m trained to teach Reformer Pilates and also mat Pilates, from beginner through to advanced. I’ve supplemented my knowledge of physical mobility with various workshops including Animal Flow, STOTT Stability Barrel, Pilates small equipment, and flexion free Pilates, amongst others.I’ve been an avid surfer for over 20 years. I’m lifeguard trained and a qualified ISA surf coach. During my time in the services I competed for the RAF surfing team, once representing the UK as part of a tri-services team against the Australian Defence Force.My time in the military has gifted me with a wealth of life experience and transferable skills. I’ve worked in and out of the U.K. in a variety of roles and I’m used to working long hours in arduous conditions.I’m task focused and self motivated. I’ve managed teams of people ensuring that projects have been completed on time, to the highest possible standard, and to the complete satisfaction of my customers. I’ve managed staff and rosters to ensure that the right people are in the right place at the right time. I am very people focused, with mentoring and constructive feedback being very important to me. I love to see my staff grow in confidence and competence, benefiting not just the individual but the organisation. I’ve managed inventories of stores and equipment, ensuring that everything is serviceable. I’ve controlled stocks of consumables needed to produce the end product, rotating, re-ordering, or replacing as required.Working as an photographer and manager required polished people skills to get the best out of people.
