I covered stories that included the Hunter Biden child custody case; the death of a 16-month-old boy from primary amoebic meningoencephalitis; the closure of various restaurants/bars throughout the famous River Market in downtown Little Rock; and the firing of the corrections secretary by the state's Board of Corrections.In November 2023, I launched the six-episode serial "The Devil of Pope County: America's Worst Family Massacre."

Chasing Ghosts: The Hunt for the D.C. Snipers is a 10-episode series - in partnership with Law & Crime - that launched April 3, 2023. My guests included shooting survivors, witnesses, local and federal investigators, attorneys, elected officials and media. The show was picked up by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in September 2023. The total number of downloads/listens exceeds 80,000 (as of January 2024) and continues to grow.

I wrote scripts, recorded guest interviews and pitched story ideas for full episodes of Court Junkie, an in-depth criminal case podcast in partnership with Law & Crime. As of June 2021, Court Junkie (a PodcastOne production) had more than 50 million total downloads.

I covered federal court and the military for The Democrat-Gazette, the largest daily newspaper in the state of Arkansas and among the 40 largest newspapers, by way of circulation, in the United States. In July 2020, I covered the execution of Daniel Lewis Lee, the first federal death row inmate executed in 17 years. I was called upon by my editors to cover a breadth of stories, including the aftermath of the March 2020 tornado that destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses in Jonesboro, a lawsuit filed against the Little Rock School District on allegations it conducted a “school-to-prison” pipeline for minority students, the financial toll cyberattacks has had on small municipalities and the slaying of Sydney Sutherland, a 25-year-old nurse who was killed while jogging along a rural highway in Northeast Arkansas. I also covered a number of daily press briefings held by Gov. Asa Hutchinson during the covid-19 crisis and wrote a series of stories on how the virus affected Arkansans. During my time at the paper, I flew in a C-130, interviewed presidential candidates, covered a spelling bee that went off the rails and was physically attacked by protestors in downtown Little Rock following the death of George Floyd. There was a lot of variety to the job. I was recognized in 2020 by the Arkansas Press Association for my coverage of the Little Rock teachers strike and in 2021, I was recognized by the National Federation of Press Women, Society of Professional Journalists (Arkansas Pro Chapter), Green Eyeshade and Great Plains for my stories about Lee's execution.

I covered crime and breaking news in Volusia County for the area’s only daily newspaper. Previously covered circuit and county court and city and county government in Volusia and Flagler counties. While at the News-Journal, I was the founder and host of Sun Crime State, a true-crime podcast that profiled the biggest crime stories across Florida. Each episode centered on a looking-back segment profiling some of the state’s most notorious crimes. The 76 episodes - averaging about 45 minutes in length - have been downloaded more than 400,000 times. I covered a wide spectrum of news while in Daytona Beach and Palm Coast, including the execution of serial killer Gary Ray Bowles, a Trump rally during the 2016 presidential campaign, a town hall meeting that involved a future governor being confronted by the parents of a victim in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, a get-out-the-vote march led by U.S. Rep. John Lewis and various weather disasters. In 2015, I earned a first-place award from the Society of Professional Journalists Florida Pro after collaborating with two colleagues on the News-Journal’s special section on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. I also earned awards in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020 from the Florida Press Club for public safety reporting, government reporting and breaking news.

I covered crime and circuit court for Hernando County and the city of Brooksville for the area’s only community newspaper, which doubled as a “bureau” for the Tampa Tribune. Previous full-time beats included business, education and local government. Stories routinely appeared in the Tribune and its website, TBO.com. I provided weekly news updates for local AM news talk station WWJB 1450 and twice provided color commentary for local high school football. I was handpicked by publisher and editor to handle multi-media tasks for Hernando Today in the event of a hurricane or other disaster. Wrote extensively about interview methods by homicide detectives resulting in wrongful arrests. One of my investigative series was profiled by NBC News and praised by the Innocence Project. Investigated unethical practices of a Tampa-area telemarketing agency soliciting on behalf of local fire unions. Among the first to report on the booming Internet cafe industry in Florida and law enforcement’s attempts to shut it down. Invited to participate in television segment for Investigation Discovery in relation to a homicide case I covered from the time of the arrests to the convictions of all three suspects. Received seven awards in four separate categories from the Florida Society of News Editors (FSNE), including first place in investigative reporting and beat reporting. Received Media General’s MegAward for excellence in the features writing category and earned a multitude of honorable mentions in the watchdog reporting and storytelling categories.

I covered crime and courts news for Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun counties and the District of Columbia for the Northern Virginia Journal, which was relaunched in early 2005 as the Washington Examiner. Regularly reported on police and justice news and covered several high-profile murder cases, including those for convicted D.C.-area snipers John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo. Enterprise stories included the growth of street gangs across Fairfax and Arlington counties and Virginia’s lynching statute and how it was being applied to prosecute minorities. Covered the homicide of Wanda Alston, who led D.C.’s office of gay and lesbian issues. Spent six weeks in Chesapeake, Va., covering the Malvo trial.
