Managed team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians to develop the tools and processes during House of Design's transition from project based systems to system products. Worked closely with other managers as the liaison between the engineering teams and the production teams, Using lean manufacturing ideology, developed RCA (Root Cause Analysis) processes and procedures. Developed and authored operating procedures for engineering change requests, engineering change orders, and deviation authorizations. Created process for part identification marking. Initiated development of work/assembly instructions. Oversaw and provided design input for the teams developing tooling and fixturing for the production floor. Working with manufacturers and vendors, provided feedback from the team on custom third party product improvement. Initiated the development of installation documentation. Provided the install teams with members of the manufacturing engineering team to document and develop installation instructions. On-site support and assistance with installation of systems. Created Start/Stop/Continue post installation documentation. Managed on-site installation of the first off-shore system install in Truganina, Victoria, Australia. Was the key point of contact throughout the entire 2 month installation. Managed not only the House of Design's install team, controls engineers, robot system engineers but also managed and worked with contracted local system engineers, millwrights, other integration companies, site building owners and ultimately the customer. Because this was the first international install, there were many challenges that came up that had to be managed in situ. Project Owner/Lead Mechanical Engineer of several robotic systems. Developed automated processing using ABB robots in single and multiple (12 robots) scenarios. Integral in the designs from conception to delivery and installation including process validation testing, rapid prototyping, tooling, vision, and material handling. On the larger systems, while also developing designs, oversaw a team of engineers, robot integrators and electricians to deliver multi robot, multi process systems. Managed the layouts, procurement. Interfaced with internal and external customers. The main focus of any of the designs was functionality while taking account of robustness, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability.

The Roan Group, LLC is a consulting and contract mechanical engineering, design, and drafting/documentation company. The Roan group has a wide range of knowledge of multiple industries and extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes. Since most of our clients utilize SolidWorks CAD software we focus on that tool. However we have extensive knowledge of CAD software such as Pro/Engineer and AutoCAD. The Roan Group has the ability to fabricate and produce prototype weldments, machined, and sheetmetal components. Our goal at The Roan Group is to assist our clients in developing new products ideas from ideas to final technical data and documentation.Current projects-Fixture and tooling design and development for Stryker Sustainability Solutions. Developed tooling and fixtures to for automated disassembly, cleaning, and testing of reprocessed medical devices. Fixture designs improved production times by 60%. Invented simple yet effective tooling for testing and validating components to within 0.0005 inches.Cost reduction effort for L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems. Redesigned ramp and floor assemblies for the Provision® 2 AIT full body image scanner. Design reduced complex assembly with a much simpler design. Cost reduction per scanner will save L-3 Communications $250,000 annually. Conversion of entire technical drawing package from 2D to 3D Solidworks for baggage scanner for L-3 Communications.

Held dual role as Project Manager and Design Engineer for a time critical product enhancement of Provision® AIT-2 to an exacting European customer. Timeline for the project was very short with an aggressive deadline. Completed project 2 weeks ahead of schedule.Sustaining Engineering and New Product Development for over 1600 Provision® AIT scanners deployed worldwide. Developed and verified designs, created documentation and instructions on new product integration in relation to current product design. Developed over 70 new designs for customer requests, product improvement, and cost reduction. Responsible for the design, development, procurement, assembly, testing, implementation and presentation of the Mobile Scout project. The Mobile Scout™ is a vehicle towed trailer with an AIT scanner The Mobile Scout™ was an influential part of the 1000 scanner sales in the United States.

International and domestic installation, service, maintenance and training of the very first 20 Provision® AIT scanners. Developed the installation and troubleshooting document package. The ability to adapt to the situation and overcome obstacles to produce a working system was standard operating procedure. Provided feedback to engineering and manufacturing teams via detailed follow up reports for product improvement.

Part of a team tasked with creating Pro/Engineer 3D models and drawings of the entire Atlas V rocket and its sub-components. Working with 30+ year old drawings. Extremely complex surfacing. Extreme high level upper assembly management. Worked with engineers from many different locations in the Unites States. Data Management at is maximum level.

Key member in the Development, Design and Technical Documentation for the M192 Lightweight Ground Mound (LWGM) Small machine gun tripod for ARDEC (Pictanny Arsenal). M192 Lightweight Ground Mount is a compact, collapsible ground mount with an integrated traverse and elevating mechanism, weighing 11.5 pounds, which is 6.5 pounds less than the current M122 tripod at that time. Design won the 2005 Army’s top inventions.

Key member of Boise Idaho branch of Colorado based product development firm contracted to SCP Global Technologies.Generated large 3D assemblies and components for Silicon Wafer cleaning and washing tools. Advanced Large Assembly Management with Pro/Engineer CAD software.

Expendable Evolutionary Launch Vehicle Project Create 3D models and assemblies of Ground Service Launch Equipment for Boeing Aerospace. Responsible for the design ofkey load transfer devices used in vehicle erection. Utilized Pro/Engineer software to model highly stressed components foranalysis. Followed product development from inception to “Approved for Construction”. Created a learning environment for co-workers seeking answers to advanced Pro/Engineer questions pertaining to advancedpart modeling, large assemblies and detail drawings as well as system configuration.Savanna River DOE (PDCF) ProjectPro/Engineer software generated 3D models, assemblies and drawings of glove boxes for handling hazardous material. Created project specific and facility-wide standard for utilizing Pro/INTRALINK and Pro/Engineer software then producedprocedures reflecting use of standards.
