I am constantly updated on any new technologies introduced into our market and visit our headquarters in Germany once or twice yearly for product and market updates.I regularly present seminars on lightning and surge protection product technologies, basic earthing systems and personal safety, as well as Industrial Power Supply technology. These are held country wide. I also present for the SAIMC (Society for Automation, Instrumentation, Measurement and Control), the SAIEE (South African Institute of Electrical Engineers) and the ECA (Electrical Contractors Association). As Phoenix Contact is responsible for sales on Sub Saharan Africa I do technical support and training seminars for both Surge and Lightning protection and Power Supply technologies in countries including Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Botswana. I built up a Manufacturing facility for the production of lightning / surge protection devices. This facility produced devices for the protection of power supply systems, measurement and control systems and telecommunication systems

I opened a manufacturing facility for the production of lightning and surge protection products which were supplied to Pontech (Pty) Ltd. who sold the products into the Sub Saharan market. My responsibilities included all aspects of the running of the company.

Involved in the sales of special cables manufactured by Lapp Cables based in Nuremberg, Germany.My main customer base was the motor vehicle manufacturing plants which included Mercedes Benz, Audi,Volkswagen, Toyota and Nissan.Their cable requirements were mainly for the robotic systems and the paint plants.

I was employed initially by Photra and trained for the installation, maintenance and programming of CNC drilling machines used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards. My training was at Excellon Automation in Los Angeles and Little Hampton in the United Kingdom for a period of six weeks.Two years later Photra was bought out by the Protea Group and I was offered a position in sales, selling printed circuit board connectors manufactured by DuPont Connector Systems. During my tenure in this sales position I participated in DuPont sales conferences in Mexico City and Cape Town.In 1885 I was sent to DuPont in Wilmington (USA) for training on Dry Film products. (Used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards)In 1987 I found a market for Bus and Tag cables used as interconnection on mainframe IBM computer systems. I joined the company as a trainee programmer (COBOL). My function was to run programs on an IBM Mainframe based at Premier Milling and to learn how to write and compile programs.
