I have been a seafarer since leaving school in 1966, I started in the fishing industry from my home town of Grimsby working on Deep Sea Trawlers. In 1974 I left the Deep Sea Fishing due to the pressure from Iceland to extend its Fishing Limits to 200 mile, I then joined the smaller fishing vessel engaged in pair trawling, and in 1977 I gained my 2nd Hand Special Cert which enabled to sail as Skipper. Then in 1988 due to the decline I went to Newlyn Cornwall and worked for W.S. Stevensons on their Beam Trawlers, sailing as deckhand, mate and relief skipper. Then in 1998 due to a back injury I left the fishing and joined the Offshore Industry and retrained and in 2005 after studying very hard I gained my Masters NC Unlimited Tonnage Certificate. My first command was a "Standby Vessel" l then moved to ERRV Vessels, Multi-Role Vessels to gain cargo/supply experience. I have been involved in "Walk to Work" and "ROV" operations as Master where l qualified as a DP operator . At present l am Senior DP Master on a large PSV with Azimuth Stern propulsion , l have held this position since March 2014.
