Design Panel Member for Places Matter!Tony has been a regular reviewer of architectural projects and masterplans across the North West.

Managing Director for John McAslan +Partners . He joined the practice in 2000, with a portfolio of successful work in major school, further education and university projects. Tony was appointed to lead JMP’s Manchester studio as an associate director, following the practice’s winning of the Manchester Metropolitan University Law Faculty commission, which was completed to high acclaim in 2003. Tony became a board director in 2005 and was appointed to the newly created MD role in 2009. He currently oversees operational and business development matters as well as maintaining an active role with clients and projects.His particular interest and specialism is in the design of academic and research lead environments and campus planning for mostly Universities and Cultural institutions. He has developed major new build, adaptive re-use, and masterplan schemes in the UK and overseas and is currently leading the design for the comprehensive adaptive re-use of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery; a new building for the British School in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; a new research-based botanical garden in Dongguan, China and the new School of Engineering for the University of Lancaster.In recent years, Tony has been active in promoting the practices skills internationally and developing a portfolio of successful projects across the world. He has participated in several UK government trade missions to widen the practice’s global reach, specifically in China and South America.Tony has taught, or been a visiting critic at, schools of architecture at universities in Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield and was an External Examiner at the Leeds School of Architecture from 2005 – 2010 and is currently a design panel member of Places Matter!, an organization working with the private and public sector to promote good design and strong client leadership.

Tony established JMP's first studio outside London in Manchester in 2000, becoming an Associate Director in 2003 and a Board Director / Shareholder in 2005.
