My professional career began in the dairy Industry in 1981 as a cheesemaker for a medium sized company located in Wisconsin. Although my initial responsibilities included learning various cheese making processes, my responsibilities grew to production management within a few short years. This position provided me with several challenges including process management, labor management and most importantly, profit enhancing improvements. My process knowledge includes milk intake, pasteurizers, cheese vats, culturing rooms, evaporators and even membrane applications like UF / RO. It was through these experiences that I began to understand the value that automated industrial control systems could provide to my plant relative to product consistency, product quality, and profitability.I believed so strongly in the value of automated industrial control systems, I decided to alter my career path by moving to ESE Inc. in 1987. Enhancing anyone's profitability is done through small increments of improvement that create large annual returns. Although most food and dairy product manufacturers have some level of automation it appears that today’s most competitive plants are now enhancing their automation systems with data collection to find even smaller levels of improvement opportunities. Optimizing continues to be optimized :) I assist in finding the opportunities that help my customers increase their profitability. This is done through higher levels of automation, process data collection, and using unique instrumentation to gather data directly from the process stream.
