Over the last ten years, I've cultivated an expertise in multicultural student affairs and DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) education, organizational strategic plans, and equity assessment. I have a background in social work and ethnic studies that have guided my work in educating young adults on addressing issues of inequity and inequality, both historically and contemporary. I've developed over 100 DEI workshops, conferences, educational events and initiatives for public and private entities. These range from identity exploration workshops, anti-racism training, ethnic studies lectures, to working with organizations to develop equitable strategic plans and culturally informed best practices. Through years of experience I know that DEI and anti-racist work needs to be accessible for all people in all walks of life.In my current capacity, I manage the Asian American Studies program and our newly founded Race, Indigeneity, & Migration program. Being able to utilize an intersectional approach to affect personal and social change has been profoundly rewarding. I'm proud to manage programs that enables people to develop comprehensive social justice frameworks and find new innovative ways to address inequities.My expertise in DEI has given me opportunities to participate in campus-wide initiatives such as the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Senate (APIDAS), sit on multiple hiring committees, and working closely with offices to develop DEI-infomred strategic action plans, community needs assessment, and recruitment.
