I then progressed to a machine operator and finally a technician. As a machine operator I developed very strong team work abilities which was essential in this position. The job consisted of operating very expensive and technical stemware machinery that automatically blew and produced thousands of wine glasses 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Attention to product quality was critical as was making the relevent changes to computer software to solve any faults or quality deficiencies. I held this position from 1998 until 2002 when i was promoted to, at first, Temporary Technician and finally Shift Technician.I also recieved a Trainer Skills Certificate which enabled me to train individuals on the automatic blowing machines and also the importance of health & safety in the workplace. Shift Technician involved adherence to strict quality controls, preparing automatic blowing machine for new products and reporting to shift manager frequently, and plant manager occasionally to discuss product numbers and results. The position carried alot of responsibility and provided invaluable experience in working on own initiative and reporting to management.After the company went into recievership I began a third level education course in Dublin Institute of Technology to pursue a deep interest I always had in science and the science industry.
