Supervise an accounting staff of four which are responsible for approximately $120 million in cash receipts per month, accounts payable, tax deposits, capital asset accounting, preparation of bank reconciliations, recording transactions into the general ledger, reconciling general ledger accounts to other systems and preparing monthly and year end closings. Heavily involved in software conversion to Oracle/Peoplesoft fully integrated software.Responsibilities include:* Monthly review of bank statement reconciliations to the General Ledger* Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in preparing year end financial statements and data* Prepare statistical and actuarial sections of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)* Assist with the implementation of Governmental Accounting Standards Board's (GASB) pronouncements and with the interpretation of actuarial valuations for inclusion in the CAFR * Assist in developing and implementing procedures to ensure accuracy of the accounting system. * Ensure the interface of pension activity to financials is complete and accurate * Monitor and coordinate cash management banking services

Division ControllerPositions held with the company include Assistant Division Accounting Manager, Division Accounting Manager, Assistant District Controller and Division Controller. Responsible for financial activities for multiple sites in Mississippi, including hauling companies, landfills, and transfer stations with total annual revenue of over $40 million. Managed a staff of 4 to 6 accounting clerks - collections, accounts payable, billing, and payroll.  Responsibilities included: * Performing month-end financial close process * Fixed asset input and balancing * Financial statement review and variance analysis * Quarterly representation letter * Prepare or review monthly balance sheet reconciliations * SOX testing of internal controls as required * Monthly financial forecasts for the next quarter * Analysis of sales bids/proformas * Approve all accounts payable invoices for payment * Prepare budgets for seven divisions * Approve customer credits
