NAB’s use of “light enhancing film” and long life lamps is estimated to have shaved $5M+ from their maintenance of 800+ lightboxes. This is also combined with a re-specification of the red star to increase its colourfastness from 12months for 7 years. This resulted in lower lifecycle costs, less maintenance and a reduction in greenhouse emissions.Cost reductions can also occur when a product is designed simply or value engineered. This creates competition and reduces barriers to entry and shifts the power to the buyer from the seller. Cost reductions can also be achieved through effective project management. Westpac was able to reduce their overall rebranding cost by over 20% through effective project management and reducing “asymmetric information.” It means we work client side to protect our interests.What all this means is caring enough about design to ensure brand fidelity and fit for purpose quality while minimizing the initial and life cycle cost.
