About Tony Wright
I am an experienced and proven leader with demonstrated success working in military and government. My solid reputation is built on a track record of consistently delivering results at both the tactical, operational, and strategic levels, dealing with events and projects as diverse as the loss of sailors at sea, and soldiers in the field, historic wildfires and flooding in British Columbia, counter-terrorist operations in the Arabian Sea, and Royal Canadian Navy recruiting.Throughout my career, I have provided values-based advice and innovative solutions to my commanders and the institution in order to build relationships, achieve objectives, communicate with Canadians, and further the brand and reputation of the Canadian Armed Forces.I am driven to support my teams and challenge them to learn and excel through training and opportunities that push them to the edge of their skillset. My teams are free to innovate within the constraints I provide, understanding that mistakes are acceptable. Knowing what happens when things “go sideways” is just as valuable as a “hiccup free” program. Sometimes more. I believe letting people be creative and having ownership delivers the best results, creating more capacity in the individual, a stronger working unit, and better product and outcomes for the organization.A 26 year veteran, I joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1996. Throughout my career, I’ve worked at every level. As a Naval Communicator (Non-Commissioned Member), I was responsible for the operation of radio and visual communications systems on board Canadian warships. In 2007 I received my commission as a Public Affairs Officer and have worked throughout Canada and around the world. As a Public Affairs Officer, I have deployed on several operations, most recently with the Royal Australian Navy when they commanded Combined Task Force 150, an ongoing counter-terrorist mission in the Arabian Sea.
Listed skills include Crisis Communications, Communications Planning, Strategic Communications, Spokesperson, and 26 others.
