CurrentSince Tony Wright's early career in the Royal Marines was curtailed by injury in 1981 he has invested his efforts and working life in advocating on behalf of and supporting individuals categorised as having the most complex and chaotic lifestyles. He has throughout his 33 year career in a variety of social care settings; working as a local authority Social Worker, Probation Officer and Senior Manager in both the statutory and voluntary sector. He has also worked as a Home Office Adviser based within Government Office North East. Throughout his career he has had continued success in engaging ‘hard to reach’ groups and positively influencing the quality of their lives by supporting their access to mainstream services. Many marginalised and disenfranchised individuals have gone on to take up employment positions acting as change activists supporting others less fortunate than themselves. There are many examples of projects and initiatives have won awards or are described as ‘cutting edge’ and ‘best practice’His current interests and political campaigning is centred on the development of models of intervention that promote ‘Post Traumatic Growth’ (PTG) for combat veterans, the adaptation and introduction of a Veterans Treatment Court model within the UK CJS and effective ‘Gender Specific’ mental health services/support for female veterans.
