I have been involved in the Oil and Gas Industry most of my working life. Initially starting as a draughtsman at International Gas Apparatus (IGA) in Camberley, I went on to be their Contracts Manager involved in the design and supply of small and large high pressure gas flow measurement systems. I left IGA in 1981 to join what was then Solartron Transducers, a company specialising in high precision gas/ liquid density meters and flow computers used in custody transfer measurement systems for Natural Gas and Crude Oil.At the time I joined Solartron Transducers, it was owned by Schlumberger. We were later sold as part of a management buyout. The management buyout team then sold the company a few months later to an investment company called Roxboro. A few years later, Roxboro sold us to Emerson Process Management. The density and now viscosity products are sold under the brand name of Micro Motion.In my many years in the company I have been a Field Sales Engineer, UK Sales Manager, European Sales Manager, National Sales Manager - Americas (I lived in Houston for 3 years) and a Marketing Manager. My current role is Customer Services Manager. I have a team working for me, and we are responsible for the global technical support and product service training. However due to my varied background, I am still indirectly involved in Sales and Marketing.
