Responsible for maintaining the regulatory change program, identifying consumer compliance changes and effectively communicating those changes to the Compliance team and affected lines of business. Identify internal policies and procedures impacted by impending changes and develop project plans to ensure systems, controls and appropriate testing are in place to meet regulatory requirements.

Contract position to author state specific collateral Due Diligence Procedures for secured Small Business Loans and to analyze workflow processes in the Retail & Small Business Credit Centers of Synovus Financial to provide recommendations for workflows and vendor support.

Regional Credit Manager responsible for overseeing all operations of the Small Business Credit Center comprised of a team of Credit Analysts and Collateral Specialists serving 19 banking divisions within Synovus. The team was responsible for underwriting Small Business loan applications using a combination of manual underwriting methods and scoring model, and collateral due diligence for collateralized requests. Additional duties included HMDA reporting, Reg B Notice of Adverse Action, Dodd Frank appraisal notifications, and other regulatory tasks for Small Business loans. Monitored and reviewed completed credit/collateral packages prepared by team to ensure quality and compliance with policies and regulations. Reviewed system declined loan requests for possible override opportunities within defined lending authority.

·Conceptually designed and implemented a Central Loan Underwriting unit for consumer loans for First Commercial Bank. Solely responsible for all aspects of erecting the newly formed unit including: design, structure, workflows, best practices, staffing metrics, training, risk assessment, compliance, record retention and QA .·Created underwriting tools consistent with the industry and tailored to mitigate risk based upon Synovus’ standards. ·Managed daily operations of the unit comprised of Credit Underwriters and Collateral processors; reviewed all loan packages and declinations; issued credit decision within lending authority; provided fair lending guidance to line of business and team members. Worked closely with bank lending personnel and all levels of management to provide insight, guidance and support. ·Participated in internal reviews and external examinations. Served as departmental contact for all reviews involving consumer lending efforts; relied upon as a subject matter expert for centrally underwritten consumer loan requests and designated spokesperson charged with providing examiners with overview of established practices including workflow processes, documentation requirements and other tasks associated with the consumer loan life cycle. Additional duties included compiling audit data requested for examination, validating and quantifying examination findings, producing formal written responses to reviews. Obligations also included formulating a solution to any areas of concern noted within the final report along with executing the proposed action plan to ensure conformity. ·Other duties included rendering credit decisions, product analysis, interest rate analysis, Contingency Planning, creating Management reports. Served as the designated Employee Loan Officer responsible for underwriting all employee loans. Interviewed and recommended vendor selection for title, valuation products, etc.
