I focus on comprehensive care for pediatric, adolescent, women’s health, and adult patients in Family Health Clinic and Urgent Care Clinic environments. Some of my responsibilities include:• Analyzing patients medical history, symptoms, and physical findings to render diagnosis.• Employing the use of diagnostic testing not limited to labs, radiographs, and EKGs. • Developing proper treatment for acute (illness, infection, injury, etc.) and chronic (hypertension, diabetes, hypothyroidism, etc.) concerns.• Collaborating with appropriate specialists when conditions exceeded scope of practice or expertise.• Educating patients regarding prescription regiments, potential side effects, interactions, and self-management tactics for acute and chronic illness.• Educating Medical and Nurse Practitioner Students from USA’s Longitudinal Experience in Primary Care Program.

I provide comprehensive in-home and in-patient medical care assessing, diagnosing, and treating acute and chronic illness. Some of my responsibilities include:• Developing a Plan of Care after completing admissions with H&P to provide excellence in care for in-patient hospital patients; develop admissions workup with comprehensive history and physical; manage in-patient medical treatment; reconcile medications; coordinate with attending physician.• Caring for a variety of patients across different clinic environments, including but not limited to the Infectious Disease Clinic, Pediatrics Clinic, and Urgent Care.• Treating patients on-site in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, memory care assisted living facilities, VOA homes.• Being available for medical consult after hour calls.• Managing patient information using EMR (Greenway, Athena, Epic, Kareo).

I was the epidemiological specialist and I collaborated with physicians and medical staff to consistently and systematically improve prevention and control of infections throughout the organization. Some key accomplishments include:• Awarded the “Outstanding Employee of the Quarter” recognition during 2010.• Directed epidemiological surveillance and chaired the cross-functional Infection Prevention Committee.• Created the Antibiotic Stewardship Program in conjunction with surgeons and pulmonologists.• Implemented MRSA Active Surveillance and Prevention Program to effectively reduce the likelihood of a MRSA outbreak.• Coordinated with the Department of Public Health in the development of protocol for prevention of flu community-wide and hospital-wide during the Flu Pandemic.• Ensured hospital compliance with regulatory bodies including the CDC, JCAHO, Alabama Department of Public Health, Association for Professionals in Epidemiology and Infection Control (APIC), Medicaid/ Medicare (CMS), and OSHA

I designed, developed, and lectured core curriculum for nursing students along with coordinating clinicals for accelerated nursing program. Some of my key accomplishments include:• Lectured on topics including Adult Medical Surgical Nursing interventions.• Evaluated clinical and theoretical student coursework to ensure the ability and knowledge of students seeking careers in nursing. • Invoked best-practice, evidence-based nursing practice, and fostered critical thinking skills in adherence with the American Association of Nurses’ Code of Ethics.
