• Design and develop architectures and implementation guidance for use by financial institutions and independent software vendors (ISVs) to successfully participate in the IBM Cloud for Financial Services ecosystem.

• Set the technical direction for the IBM Cloud UI Platform as it continued to grow in importance to the IBM Cloud ecosystem and to expand as a strategic front end/consolidation point for IBM Cloud. • Drove an architectural vision to keep the IBM Cloud Console competitive and consumable by all of IBM Cloud, but also to set a course to take the console platform and overall console user experience (UX) to the next level.• Continued to own all technical decisions for the full UI stack, including plugins from other teams that extend the core console. This included driving new core functionality, world-class UX, resiliency, high availability, performance, and extensibility.

• Shifted focus from mostly front-end to driving the entire IBM Cloud Console stack.• Provided hands-on leadership to a global team of 30+ core console developers across 5 squads. (and indirect leadership to many more). Built a large sphere of influence to define and build solutions with offering management, UI design, other technical leaders.• Spearheaded numerous architectural initiatives related to reliability/resiliency, performance, usability, and overall functionality that have ensured the console is positioned as the next generation, strategic UI for all users of the IBM Cloud. These include: • Adoption of a modern microservice architecture using Node.js to replace the original monolithic architecture based on Java. • Enablement for 20+ plugin teams throughout IBM to extend the console and use it as a point of integration for their UIs and their resource types. • Complete decoupling of console UX and technical underpinnings from Cloud Foundry with adoption of a suite of new platform components. • Enablement of global console for geo load balancing and failover to improve console reliability. • Implementation of a widely used monitoring system for problem determination. • Migration from deploying on CF to deploying to Kubernetes clusters. • Adoption of Akamai for content delivery network (CDN), network acceleration, and web application firewall (WAF) to improve performance and security of console. • Unifying and improving the overall user experience of the console.

• Led development of front-end JavaScript code for the IBM Bluemix UI to serve as the user-facing portal for the new IBM Bluemix Platform based on Cloud Foundry (CF).• Wrote the first lines of front end code and instrumental in bringing this UI from inception to public beta release in Feb 2014 and then GA in June 2014 despite a large number of technical hurdles and schedule challenges.

• Designed and developed front-end code for Maqetta, an open source project that provided WYSIWYG visual authoring of HTML5 user interfaces in the browser.• Provided significant new function in areas such as widget integration/configuration (HTML Tables, Dojo GridX, Dojo Tree, Dijit sliders, etc.), review and commenting, and Maqetta to Rational Application Developer integration. • Wrote an extensive 3-part developerWorks series on Maqetta mobile development to help evangelize the product.• Created an external Maqetta blog to provide enhanced technical info to users on a range of topics.

• Acted as technical lead/architect for x86 hypervisors (e.g., KVM,VMware, and Hyper-V) in VMControl, a virtualization management plug-in for IBM SystemsDirector.• Oversaw execution of VMControl's x86 hypervisor support for NGP appliance offering.• Led completion of x86 roadmap for VMControl during fall plan.

• Designed, prototyped, and implemented an applet allowing undergraduate students to query a database of African archaeological data and interact with the results using sophisticated timelines and maps. Leveraged Java, 2D graphics, JDBC, and relational databases. • Applied usability test results from my class projects to positively influence the design.

• Instructed undergraduate students in the fundamentals of e-mail, Web browsing, Word, and Excel on both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

• Designed and implemented a prototype of a graphical telecommunications network management system (using Visual C++ and Microsoft Access) to help evaluate the merits of using the platform in a product.

• Designed and implemented a graphically intense Visual Basic application to allow optical engineers to visualize and analyze the performance of automotive headlamps.
