Allscripts has a hardware installation and maintenance business that I manage for the Professional product line. In Oct 2009, we outsourced field engineering to DecisionOne, moving our FE team of 100+, including most managers. I stayed with Allscripts as the last engineering manager to manage our side of the partnership.* I manage a Hardware Technical Support team of 12. They do L2 troubleshooting and entitlement services. They also do part ordering and dispatch to the field engineering organization. * I manage a advanced implementation team of 8. They do all high end installations for Allscripts. Anything new, large and/or complicated is project managed through this team. They fly around the country to perform onsite installations.* I manage the day to day activities of our field engineering outsource with DecisionOne. I work with my counterpart to manage the day to day activities including any escalations, case/ implementation management, product EOL and weekly metrics.* I work with development, procurement, sales and accounting to manage product lifecycle, starting with introduction of new products to the organization to end of life. Selling hardware for 25+ years, we still offer hw maintenance on some really old equipment.
