Through focused training sessions, I was able to use the two years in this position to learn foundations of retail merchandising. Foundational areas that I strengthen and developed were: Data Analysis : I was responsible driving and building seasonal assortments. In order to track monthly business, I utilized data management systems like BI Micro strategies and SAP to pull data in order to analysis for pricing and promotional action. While building seasonal assortments, there was a major focus on being data lead with product decisions. Took raw data and manipulated it so we could prove my strategy. Data Entry: Parts of my job function included data entry into systems that affected a whole fleet of stores. I learned SAP through this position. Weekly and monthly I would have to carefully input data with less that 1% error in order to make the stores as successful as possible. The attention to detail also affected our buy quantities so I was taught the value of data entry and detail. Marketing: I was part of the buying team that controlled in store activations. I was able to influence a new signage package and activation in "try on" events within the factory outlet store chains. I was able to get creative made that was specific to the event. The experience allowed me to understand what goes into marketing creation, cost management and in store execution. Planning: Learned retail math. How to use an "Open to Buy" tool. Space and option plan for retail stores. Project Management: I was on many different subcommittees for different initiatives within our store chain. The two I am most proud of is my work on the world cup team and the back to school committee. I had many different responsibilities from product management to stakeholder management. I worked on teams as big as 10 people with different priorities. All commitments I was challenged with were met and exceeded. Show less
