As the Head of Training Delivery at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Canada, I was responsible for building and leading a high-performing team of technical instructors who deliver training and certification services to AWS customers and partners across the region. I developed a highly respected and highly functioning team of technical instructors with a variety of backgrounds, experience and expertise. As the business evolved, this included developing and leading new leaders that would help scale and grow. Leading with empathy and establishing strong trust with my team while supporting their personal and professional goals is an achievement I pride over all others. I also had the pleasure of welcoming internationally based trainers to the team and ensuring their skills and experiences were shared broadly.More tactically, I lead the efforts for localization of content and offerings in Canada to ensure compliance with Quebec French Language laws. I was a a Bar-Raiser who helped maintain Amazon's high bar for new talent acquisition and mentored new bar raisers. My teams had the lowest attrition rates in the AMER region and delivered strong results being in the top quartile (likely top 10%) y/y/y for all instructor metrics and I led unique initiatives to boost instructor utilization.

As the first Country Manager for AWS Canada Training and Certification I was brought on board to build a new Training and Certification services business at AWS in Canada. This unique opportunity, in a business experiencing hyper-growth, required me to undertake all aspects of the business, from Strategy, Business Development and Sales, Client Management, Training Consulting and Change Management, Partner Management, Marketing, Events and Operations. I established a team of 10 technical trainers plus a Training team lead, a training coordinator, 4 Training Business Development Managers and I grew the business from zero to a $6M dollar business that over achieved the US. Canada contributed over 20% of instructor-led training revenue in the Americas, despite being only 6% of the size of AWS revenues. Similar results were across other metrics, like classes delivered, students trained and events. My mission was to close the cloud skills gap in Canada and empower thousands of Canadians to benefit from cloud computing. I worked closely with clients to determine their training needs and develop customized learning plans that accelerated their adoption of AWS services. I also managed the P&L, course schedules, training proposals, and SOWs for the Training and Certification business in Canada. I am passionate about creating the highest quality learning experiences for AWS clients and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence among my team.

As the Team Lead for D2L's Training Services I lead a team of nine, high performing Training Specialists, who deliver training services to customers of D2L's Integrated Learning Platform. Two key areas I have accountability for are; developing a high performing team and operational excellence in learning program delivery. In the area of people management and development I hire, coach and manage a group of nine international Training Specialists to create a well-developed and talented team that provides the highest quality learning experiences for D2L clients. Operational excellence in learning program delivery is achieved through optimizing processes and workflows for scheduling and delivering training, delivering training services within budgeted time and achieving resource utilization targets and customer satisfaction goals. In the fall of 2015 the market research firm, Ovum, ranked D2L #1 in Customer Training amongst Learning Management System providers.

As part of the Infrastructure Consulting Services business, I was also the training subject matter expert and used my knowledge of our training services and methodologies to architect training solutions for organizations implementing new technologies.
