Design, development and support of high volume, high performance financial systems for 500+ users. Technology used included SQL Server, Oracle, C#, VB.NET, Visual Basic and Unix. Collaborated with content specialists to design specifications for migration of legacy systems to strategic systems and implemented the design of these specifications in technical requirements. Thorough understanding of the financial industry and how that knowledge should be applied technically in the design and implementation of backend and client facing products.• Post-acquisition, migrated client-facing application from within Computershare infrastructure to Thomson Reuters, reconstructed to source the data from within Thomson Reuters during the established migration timelines.• Created jobs using IBM DataStage to provide data updates in XML format, facilitating near real time updates of data to other areas of business.• Migrated 50,000,000+ records of equity holdings data from legacy Sybase database to strategic Oracle database, transforming data as required to meet strategic database requirements. Completed on-time to meet established deadline.• Analyzed computed data on legacy system and identified logic required to reproduce computed data in strategic database; designed and implemented this logic using Oracle PL/SQL. Due to lack of knowledge with company of legacy system this had not been possible previously. Completed within migration timescales.• Reduced data delays by over 95% by identifying and resolving a number of bugs in the Insider Trading system using Visual Basic and Sybase. The bugs delayed data giving rise to financial penalties in not meeting data turnover times and had previously been undiscovered.• Worked closely with partner business in creating, maintaining and supporting new data feeds to provide 100+ clients with key financial data.

Migration completed on-time and on budget.• Designed and built a SQL Server warehouse solution to provide a client database for the UK equity ownership product. Database met high performance requirements of product and was completed within project timelines.• Designed and built SQL Server relational database for data storage of global financial data, allowing the migration of data collection from individual country systems into one global system.• Designed and implemented a process by which all data inputting systems were combined to give a global view of ownership data using SQL Server Jobs and Stored Procedures paving the way for globalization of products.• Created SQL Server stored procedures for use by global client-facing product with complete customization and filtering. Completed on-time for product release.• Analyzed product performance using SQL Profiler, identified stored procedures that were problematic and optimized their performance to meet query time requirements for product.

Development and support of research data collection applications for 100+ users, design and creation of client reports to provide research results to 50+ clients. Technologies used included Visual Basic, SQL Server, Excel, VBA and MS Access. Management of administration and support of SQL Server database, oversaw maintenance and production of Visual Basic applications. Interviewed, hired and directly supervised team of 7 developers.• Introduced use of VBA into research reports to streamline production and dramatically enhance the presentation for clients. Cut production time for reports from more than a day to minutes.• Trained new development team in Excel report creation process and VBA programming to allow new team to produce client reports as result of acquisition.• Successfully rebuilt SQL Server database suffering only minimal data loss after catastrophic server failure, with no significant production delays.• Developed payroll system to automate production of feeds and reports for 1000+ research field force reducing the turnaround time from 4 hours to minutes.
