As a Team Coordinator I am responsible for one hundred and fifty students who live in the Norton and Pollack residences at Bishop’s University. I manage five Resident Assistants who report to me and assist me in these duties. I coordinate their monthly Duty Schedule, and ensure they are working with students as they adjust to their new home, both in residence and at university. Weekly meetings are held with the team, on in a group and one-on-one basis, to ensure guidelines are being met and to help set goals to exceed expectations. I also facilitate discipline meetings for residence students, which requires reviewing the infractions and deciding on the appropriate penalty to be levied on the student.As a Team Coordinator I am an instrumental part of the continuous develop of student staff. To begin each term, there is a two week intensive training program that all Residence Assistance must complete to prepare them for the coming 8 months. Some of these sessions I will instruct on my own, while others I will be paired with other staff members, professional and student, to instruct the 27 member Residence Life team. Assertiveness, Role Modeling, Scheduling/Meetings are all sessions I will instruct. Furthermore, I assist the Residence Life Coordinator in the 360 Degree Performance Review for each member of my team, to identify areas where the employees can continue to grow. The overall goal for the year is to create an environment that allows for student growth and development while encouraging academic success. Moreover, as a member of the Residence Life Program, it is my duty to reevaluate the program we offer, to both staff and students, to ensure we are creating an environment that allows for success.
