Responsible for the delivery of World Class aircraft seats into several customer fleets from Concept and ITCM through to Launch. This included working with Airbus on Line Fit projects, AmSafe with requirement for Airbags and concluded with the successful addition of Acro Seats to the Airbus Catalogue.

Part of the international Norma Group, Norma UK is the country's leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of profile clamps, hose clamps, and a comprehensive range of engineered joining technology solutions. My primary achievements for the client were:• Instilled discipline and control as PM into a diverse team looking at a long term problem and in the process helped to drive rapid solution and implementation into production ensuring permanent problem resolution.• Managed a troublesome project for a new Japanese client, ensuring all customer and company requirements were met within a TS16949 environment whilst adhering to the customer quality processes and deliverables. This was all delivered on time in tight and reduced time scales.• Made significant improvements to the existing project management system and used the improvements to manage 5 key account customers, achieving significant client confidence in PM.

Perei Group Ltd, a privately owned company, are renown designers and injection moulded manufacturers of automotive lighting systems supplying to prestigious high and low volume OEM’s. Against a background of tight timing and deadlines I:• Successfully introduced a new Hi-Line Rear Interior Console taking it from initial UK injection moulding and assembly trials, meeting all IAC/JLR (customer) pre-production phases, low volume introduction and a significant volume uplift of all Interior Consoles.• Provided a single point Programme Management contact for the customer, identified and minimised risk, ensured transparency of information flow through excellent communication and response minimising customer noise.• Ensured project activities followed company and customer systems and procedures including adherence to TS 16949, APQP standards and project gateways.• Met all QC deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, ensuring PPAP and PSW were completed on time.• Worked with and coordinated the activities of a cross functional team ensuring all necessary milestones were achieved.

Threesixty Aerospace (part of Virgin Atlantic Airways) is an expert designer, developer and manufacturer of business and first class seats for use in Airbus and Boeing passenger aircraft. In a role that has expanded over time, my achievements have included:• Establishing a position as a trusted senior manager, with the company extending my contract from 6 months to 2 years.• Diagnosing the problematic delivery of a new first class seat for Virgin’s A330 “Upper Class”.• Completing the project within the new timescales, leading a team of eight mechanical designers to meet the mission critical deadline for Virgin of the introduction into service of the A330.• Subsequently leading the delivery of a carbon composite privacy shield, managing the issues, driving the design drawings, engineering change requests (ECRs) and other vital steps, meeting a tight deadline.• Developing control systems for ECRs, initially for use on my own projects, which were subsequently adopted across the company.• Managing the Product Support team, including developing control systems to see if late changes to seat design were possible, and where they should take place.

Owned by Tata Motors, Jaguar Land Rover is rapidly expanding its portfolio of models. My objective was to introduce a process for better scoping of the requirements of designs emerging from the Concept Chassis team. Of note, I:• Analysed all new chassis related projects, establishing the time, budget, manpower and material requirements to deliver these developments.• Managed up to four projects at one time and around 30 across my time in the company.• Facilitated the transfer of these concepts from the design stage into the vehicle line. • Deepened my knowledge of Jaguar Land Rover’s systems.

Ricardo plc is a leading global provider of product innovation, engineering solutions, clean technology and strategic consulting. Its Ricardo Special Vehicles division is a developer of specialised military vehicles. My achievements included:• Injecting my knowledge of Ricardo’s client into the project team, managing the interface between them.• Leading on the projected development of a military vehicle, including controlling the build schedule, pilot builds and managing suppliers.• Managing elements of another project leading to the production of a military vehicle.• Mastering the client’s project management tools and techniques.

Having project managed the creation of this new plant, I subsequently led much of its support infrastructure and important local stakeholder relationships. Managing a large multi-skilled team comprising several different professions and a substantial budget, my achievements were:• Managing Rolls Royce’s relationship with West Sussex and Chichester Councils, preventing the potential reputational problems caused by a major manufacturing plant sited in the green belt.• Obtaining planning permission for a significant plant extension in support of a new vehicle range.• Successfully renegotiated several problematic facilities contracts.

This was my second new factory build for BMW, and the biggest, with a substantial multi million pound budget. Having bought the rights to use the Rolls-Royce brand, BMW needed a brand new headquarters and manufacturing plant to manage and produce cars. My achievements included:• Managing relationships between the UK based project team and the Munich based BMW senior management, spending the first year with the project board based in Germany.• Meeting BMW’s requirements to have the first cars roll off the production line in 2003.• Leading the project from concept through to completion using a controlled gateway schedule.• Successfully managing the project’s budget, meeting forecasts for multi-cost centres, and planning and controlling manpower.

Hams Hall was the first BMW engine plant built outside Germany and Austria. I project managed this substantial multi million pound new build on a brownfield site, a vital project for BMW’s global ambitions. In this role, I:• Solved cultural, linguistic and business differences between BMW and Rover Group, working mostly from Germany for the first two years, and managing relationships with BMW Board Members.• Managed the project’s demands through controlled gateways, from the initial concept and an empty site through to launch.• Met budgetary expectations, controlled costs and accurately forecasted variations.• Delivered the project on time and to budget, with all quality requirements met and production commencing on four cylinder petrol engines for BMW and Mini.

Land Rover has an enviable reputation for providing robust 4x4 vehicles built to an exacting MOD specification. It was requested to provide a multi-purpose platform which could function as a troop carrier, communications vehicle and an ambulance. The vehicles were based on the Defender 90 and 110 designated Truck Utility Light (TUL) and Truck Utility Medium (TUM), respectively. I project managed a multi-functional Powertrain design and development team. In this role I:• Developed the project plan and then managed its delivery which involved liaising with Land Rover Vehicles on behalf of the team to ensure total integration. • I successfully planned and controlled the build schedule that led to the on time delivery of proven power units. Reporting through gateways to the Senior Management team.• I achieved successful introduction of the Powertrain supporting production of two new, major, low volume military derivatives.• I achieved this in tight financial and time constraints.

I project managed the provision and installation of machines and equipment for the manufacture, assembly, test and dress of the new 2.0 Litre L Series diesel engine from prototype to production. The project was delivered on time to budget, both capital and revenue, achieving its quality targets.

I managed a team of Lean Manufacturing Engineers. The team acted as a catalyst for visioneering, world class benchmarking and process improvements within a Power Train environment.

I was responsible for all 4x4 vehicles engine systems covering: cooling, fuel, exhaust and air induction components and systems both for design and development, from concept to current production. In this role I:• Managed significant upgrades of Range Rover and Discovery vehicles, and several model year updates of both vehicles, and the Defender range every year. Approximately 3 major projects and 6 medium to minor projects per year. • Lead a team of 20 designers and 10 development staff in 2 site locations.• Was responsible for a significant Product Engineering budget in terms of men and materials.• Managed the key suppliers.• Managed the installations department covering all under-bonnet design studies & installations from concept to production.

As Design Team Leader, I was responsible for the steering, suspension, wheels and tyres for the new Rover 200/400 series and led a team which worked in close collaboration with Honda Motors. We took the vehicle from prototype to production. Prior to this, my responsibilities included current production vehicles from the Mini to the Rover 800 series.

I successfully built up this new department which had responsibility for building and maintaining a full-size three-dimensional master specification bay and under-floor bucks/mock-ups. We dealt with vehicles in all design phases. I was responsible for presenting work at Board meetings.
