In a role that has expanded over time, my achievements have included:• Establishing a position as a trusted senior manager, with the company extending my contract from 6 months to 2 years.• Diagnosing the problematic delivery of a new first class seat for Virgin’s A330 “Upper Class”.• Completing the project within the new timescales, leading a team of eight mechanical designers to meet the mission critical deadline for Virgin of the introduction into service of the A330.• Subsequently leading the delivery of a carbon composite privacy shield, managing the issues, driving the design drawings, engineering change requests (ECRs) and other vital steps, meeting a tight deadline.• Developing control systems for ECRs, initially for use on my own projects, which were subsequently adopted across the company.• Managing the Product Support team, including developing control systems to see if late changes to seat design were possible, and where they should take place.

My achievements included:• Managing relationships between the UK based project team and the Munich based BMW senior management, spending the first year with the project board based in Germany.• Meeting BMW’s requirements to have the first cars roll off the production line in 2003.• Leading the project from concept through to completion using a controlled gateway schedule.• Successfully managing the project’s budget, meeting forecasts for multi-cost centres, and planning and controlling manpower.
