Oct 2015 - May 2016

Lead Systems Engineer

Arlington, Va, Us

I worked on the SKYFIRE program which requires building a HPC virtualized infrastructure for large data algorithmic processing. The software involved making this system resilient and highly available are Docker, etcd, fleet, confd, and Puppet. The system runs isolated containers in clusters for software applications to better utilize resources. My role as a Lead Systems Engineer is to manage my staff with tasking, project scheduling, prioritization, resource allocation, risk reduction, and to develop my systems engineering team with my technical knowledge/expertise and experience to make this project a success.

Sep 2014 - Oct 2015

Senior Systems Engineer

Arlington, Va, Us

I worked on the FOUNDATIONS Lab program which requires building an infrastructure for a specialized synthetic processing environment for partners to test their algorithms, applications, and other software on a non-live demo system. This involves setting up a high and low resolution video wall, layer 2 and 3 networking, HPC storage, and high end processing blades to run the software. The environment will show off capabilities among different organizations on a baseline system. Some of these capabilities are advanced data distribution and algorithm characterization. The production system will also demonstrate motion detection and touchscreen for showing to end product users/customers. I am involved with the design, architecture, and implementation of the various COTS products used in this demo environment. We also use the Agile development process in order to plan, assign, and complete the various tasks within a given timeframe. I have implemented Puppet software to maintain the baseline system on all processing nodes. We also have implemented a development environment to test out new software and hardware before upgrading the operational one.

Jul 2014 - Sep 2014

Systems Engineer

Arlington, Va, Us

I worked on the Sentient Infrastructure (R&D) program under the Intelligence and Information Systems Division (IISD), which involves a converged ground infrastructure. This involves an enterprise mission processing system that takes advantage of dynamic and static cloud computing technology, layers 2 and 3 networking, HPC storage, advanced processors, as well as the use of 40 core hypervisors for maximum resource usage. This virtualized system is elastic and capable of connecting to various sensors, platforms, and services. This infrastructure will be integrated into the customer’s mission network in order for them to process and disseminate their mission data to their consumers in a more cost efficient manner then what is currently deployed. I have done on-site customer mission support, racking and stacking various pieces of equipment, technical troubleshooting, integration, automation, testing, documentation, secure reference VM creation, scripting, security requirements for certification and accreditation of the deployed system (NIST/STIG/ICD 503), and developed my leadership skills further in order to task others in order to meet key milestones and deliverables within a scheduled timeframe. This project was also recognized at the organization’s level. I also worked on an Identity Access Management (iDAM) web application called DoD Enterprise White Pages, which allows users to quickly and easily locate contact information for all DoD personnel. It offers data from authoritative sources, presents the data to users in an intuitive fashion, and utilizes a clean and easy-to-use interface. It is the most used application Solers has released with an average of 15,000 users a day. I also have done test engineering, system administration, and support for developers in creating new patches to be released on this program.

The DCGS Integration Backbone (DIB) facilitates the distribution of the right information at the right time and place to achieve mission goals in support of the warfighter. I also have experience as a field engineer traveling all over the world to deploy our systems at various USAF/ANG/other military installations and working directly with the customer. I used teamwork in order to contribute and accomplish the design, building, integrating, testing, troubleshooting, implementation, maintaining, and upgrading of these systems.
