Rugby's Golf Club (RGC) is an events organisation co-founded by myself and Nick Jones, a veteran of the advertising industry. RGC is fundraising in the spirit of rugby. Ian Robertson, the BBC's renowned rugby correspondent is Club Captain and the one and only Jason Leonard OBE and England's most capped every player, as President. The club organises golf events throughout the UK and abroad, including a three day event in La Manga, Spain, raising money for Help for Heroes and the RBN's Life After Rugby Programme.Other events include an England v Wales match at St Pierre Golf and Country Club, Chepstow, a match against cricket's charity, The Lord Taverners at Sandmartins Golf Club Wokingham and two special events at John O'Gaunt Golf Club, Bedfordshire and our final event at Royal Birkdale, Southport. In each case, golfers (men and ladies) of all ages and standards are invited to participate, and in the La Manga event and two others, play with a rugby 'legend' as a member of their team.Many former, well-known rugby players have signed up as club members, including Roger Uttley, Phil de Glanville, Gavin Hastings, David Trick, Shaun Perry, Mark Regan, John Hall, Jamie Salmon, Tom Shanklin, Matt Perry, Peter Scrivener, Matt Banahan, Mike Roberts – and others continue to swell our ranks.

Somerset, United Kingdom

Raising funds for mentally/socially and physically disadvantaged children by assisting with Events in the regions associated with the charity. From being an early volunteer and chairman of the Somerset committee of WS I became fully employed eventually as deputy CEO. I was responsible for staring 35 of the 45 fundraising regions of the charity taking their donating income from 500k to 1.5m during that time.

Taunton, United Kingdom

In the early eighties I moved to Somerset to set up Farmat LTD, a company selling synthetic matting for use in cow cubicles and stables with partner John Callow. We sold the mats successfully throughout the UK & Ireland during this period attending all major and minor agriculture shows.In 1987 John and I were responsible for restarting the Taunton Agricultural Show after a gap of over 100 years. The show ran until 2000 when it was a casualty of Foot and Mouth disease. In that time the show attracted 12000+ and proved to be an excellent show case for local agricultural firms, local businesses and clubs and associations.

Responsible for building a range of women's sandles from India which sold in some of the biggest high street chains.

Ring Wing

I played for the North West Counties RUFC who beat the 1972 touring All Blacks 16 - 14 at Workington, Cumbria becoming the first English regional team to beat the All Blacks.I played a couple of times for the Barbarians on the Easter tour to South Wales in 1975, and I was part of the successful England tour of South Africa in 1972.

Ring Wing

I played for the Wasps in 1976 to 1979 captaining the club for the last two years.

Fylde

Played Right Wing captaining the club in the 1975/1976 season.During this period I played for Lancashire, winning the county championship on two occasions.

Fleetwood

I taught at Rossall Junior School, Fleetwood between 1968 & 1974 where I became a house master of Hesketh House for my last two years at the school.

I throughly enjoyed my time at St Paul's College of Education at the University and made some excellent relationships and life-long friends.

Grammer School

I attended Fleetwood Grammer before moving to St Paul's College Cheltenham.
