At AWS, Solution Architects are technical trusted advisors to our customers and the Data Specialist Solutions Architect role comes alongside our customers on all things related to our database and analytics services. I serve on a team of three Data Specialist Solution Architects engaged with a public sector vertical covering over fifteen distinct customer organizations. + Executed over 300 one to many customer engagements in the past four years. These engagements included varied activities such as: technical exchange meetings, delivering proof of concepts, hosting service immersion day labs, and ad hoc customer technical conversations. Audiences for these engagements ranged anywhere from C-suite executives to hands on keyboard technical teams. These engagements included topics such as introduction to cloud databases, data migration, performance and tuning, modern data architectures and database resilience.+ Customer liaison between various internal teams such as service teams, enterprise support, product management.+ 300-400 level expertise with the following AWS services: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Neptune, Database Migration Service, Schema Conversion Tool, OpenSearch, Redshift, Glue, Athena, Quicksight and Secrets Manager. Jan 19 - Oct 20: Oracle DBA embedded with a development team supporting over 30K users across 4 custom built enterprise applications. My focus was on operational support and enterprise architecture. Support for fifty databases from development to production over 24 months. Support for a number of Oracle GoldenGate multi-active configurations. Jan 17 - Dec 19: Oracle DBA with an enterprise database as a service team. Responsible for backups, performance monitoring and quarterly patching for roughly 200 databases over 24 months.

October 2016 - January 2017Database engineer - Oracle migration and transition, MySQL, Mongo.April 2014 - September 2016Leidos lead database engineer for mission critical system for a DoD customer. Tasking, planning, mentoring a team of 5 engineers supporting a full lifecycle software development team. Supported around 100 databases which included Oracle RAC clusters and multi-active replication configurations from development to production. Focused on application performance tuning and operational stability. Personally designed, developed and tested hundreds of shell scripts and pl/sql modules to add agility to the database architecture. Briefed customer Tech Director on database improvements weekly for 3 months.April 2011 - March 2014Database engineer for a mission critical system for a DoD customer. Multiple installations of Oracle RAC supporting real time ingest of billions of rows of data per day with high end query tuning and Oracle partitioning. Responsibilities included operations and maintenance for fifteen forward deployed production databases. Executed various pieces of data migration from Oracle to MySQL. Varied experience with nosql data stores most notably ElasticSearch, including developing a specialized purge prototype.March 2007 - Feb 2011Database engineer supporting full lifecycle development, deployment and sustainment for multiple products of an enterprise wide mission critical system for a Fed Govt customer. Responsible for operations and maintenance for four RAC clusters with Data Guard high availability and 99% system uptime. Delivered hundreds of database enhancements including code, patches, and architecture over a 4 year period, including 3 enterprise migration/technology refreshes. Interim deputy operations manager for 6 months.

SAIC was split in Sept of 2013 and I went to work for the new company named Leidos.

- Day to day hands-on management and leadership for a team of 8 Database Administrators supporting five mission critical 24x7 applications in the areas of data models, high availability replication architectures, application performance tuning, data conversion and general database administration for both Sybase and Oracle platforms.- Delivered an average of 4 functional releases per year per application, which included data model changes, performance tuning and data replication architecture changes and/or enhancements. - Lead a team to re-engineer an existing data architecture for transfer to Oracle technologies and delivered 12 migrations and conversions a year for a new startup application, supporting a nation-wide application deployment in 20 months.- Responsible for re-engineering of existing data conversion processes which reduced overall implementation time by 20%.

Technical lead for a DBA team supporting multiple mission critical applications. Responsibilities included implementing data models, maintenance and upgrades of data architecture infrastructure and design and implementation deliverables related to a real time database replication architecture.
