As the founding engineer at ID.me (employee #3), I started off primarily in a senior engineering role doing Ruby on Rails development. As the company grew, I transitioned into the VP of Engineering role and was responsible for career management, hiring, and establishing the standards and overall direction of the engineering department. I remained in a hands on coding capacity for the majority of this time and grew the engineering team to 20 people.In the final two years of my tenure I transitioned to the VP of Product role. I worked with the executive leadership team to define our product strategy and translated that strategy into actionable product objectives for the engineering and design teams. I also worked closely with business development, sales, marketing and member support to understand the needs of our customers and created design mockups and prototypes to iterate on product requirements. I’m very proud of my time at ID.me. Together, we built a world class identity verification platform that serves millions of users and is integrated into hundreds of organizations across retail and government.

I moonlighted as a freelancer and worked with several startups during this time. Of note was 33needs, a crowdfunding site for socially conscious entrepreneurs. 33needs was developed from concept to launch with press coverage from New York Times, TechCrunch, VentureBeat and Huffington Post.

Developed a web-based tool to aid in the analysis and defeat of wireless threats and IEDs around the world. Led the development of ProConIt.com when Onyx took over the project from Viget Labs. Used Ruby on Rails, jQuery, Oracle 10g, Postgres, Git, HTML/CSS, HAML, SASS, Mac OS X.

Developed a web-based tool used by the Department of Defense to track the testing and certification of vendor software. Used Ruby on Rails, jQuery, HTML/CSS, Mac OS X, MySQL, Subversion.

Backend C++ development for a financial management system used by the Department of State.
