Having run a few businesses, my current one, Helmsman Services Ltd, has been the most long-lasting and successful. I was involved in property development in the UK and Spain in the 80's and early 90's and then, when the last recession hit, I became an Instructor with Dale Carnegie Training and spent 10 happy years with them, eventually running their East London & Essex operation. Having also been doing work on the Investors in People accreditation, in 1997, this led to an opportunity to manage the training for a large house-building company, on an outsourced basis. In 2000 it was obvious that we could replicate the service for others and the business grew from there. We also started a Health & Safety training and consultancy side in 2005. This started by offering training but now offers advice, drafts policies, procedures, risk assessments, CHAS and other applications etc and also offers annual contracts, called 'Safe & Sure' to watch over a client's H&S matters.And in 2013, we started selling a range of health and safety e-Learning and this has grown to form a large part of the business.Specialties: Huge knowledge about training and development strategy and tactics for all industries but especially in construction and care.Speaker on business topics such as personal development, training and general motivation.
